She has led design, engineering and operations for both Southern Metalcraft in Lithonia and Hobbs Fountains in Atlanta. Lynette was recently the VP of Operations for a multi-million dollar manufacturer of equipment and supplies sold into construction, manufacturing, government, and healthcare markets. Her training and experience in lean principles enables her to develop strategic programs for improving efficiency and quality in both products and processes. She recognizes that talented resources are the driving force behind successful performance metrics. In addition to many years as a hiring manager, Lynette has been a full desk recruiter in the areas of commercial and industrial development, finance and construction. Lynette lives in Atlanta and is an active participant in APICS Atlanta, Georgia Manufacturing Alliance and the Georgia Tech Alumni Association. Savannah Business Leadership Series: Erich K. Schmid

Erich K. Schmid is co-founder and President of Business Intermediary Services, Ltd. He is a 35-year veteran in the mergers and acquisitions arena. In 1974 Mr. Schmid’s corporate career began with The Babcock & Wilcox Company (NYSE: BWC) in the Power Generation Group’s Nuclear Equipment Division and in 1975 was promoted to its Corporate Planning and Business Development Department; and, following the acquisition of BWC by J. Ray McDermott (NYSE: MDR) in 1978, he joined McDermott’s corporate staff. In 1980 Mr. Schmid was selected by Tidewater Inc. (NYSE: TDW) to be its first Director of Corporate Development and served in that position until 1985 when he resigned and moved to Asheville, North Carolina where he joined a local business brokerage firm and specialized in larger transactions. During his nine years with a general business brokerage, he performed valuations of several hundred businesses for buyers and sellers and was involved in over 100 transactions. In 1994 Mr. Schmid and the late William J. Fass founded Business Intermediary Services, Ltd. to focus solely on transactions in the lower middle market in the U.S. and Brazil and U.S. – Brazil cross-border transactions. Mr. Schmid has both a B.S. in Industrial Management and M.S. in Management from The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio. Mr. Schmid also studied Strategic Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Business. He was instrumental in founding the Carolinas-Virginia Business Brokers Association (CVBBA) and served as its first president. Mr. Schmid is a member of the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors (AM&AA) and is a Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA). He is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth (AGG) – Charlotte Chapter. He is a licensed real estate broker in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Mr. Schmid is a proud veteran of the United States Army; and, is a member of American Legion Post 205 (Bluffton, SC) and is the Post’s Golf Tournament Chairman. Mr. Schmid and his wife, Marilyn, live on Hilton Head Island, SC. They have two children, Gregory and Sara, and two grandchildren, Barrett and Mia. Connect with Erich K. Congressman Drew Ferguson is a proud resident of West Point whose family roots in the West Georgia area are several generations deep. He attended the University of Georgia and gained early acceptance to the Medical College of Georgia. After graduating with a degree in dental medicine, he moved back to his hometown and established a successful family dental practice. In 2008, Congressman Ferguson was elected mayor of West Point and was at the forefront of attracting and keeping jobs in his community. By lowering taxes, eliminating government barriers and reforming education, he led a community in economic ruin back to life. Today, a wide range of new businesses and industries call West Point and the surrounding area home. Led by KIA Motors, automotive suppliers and related businesses, 16,000 new jobs have been created so far. Congressman Ferguson came to Washington to apply the lessons he learned revitalizing West Point to creating policies that once again make America the most competitive place to do business. Just as important as the creation of jobs, Congressman Ferguson wants to remove barriers that prevent those in poverty from moving into the middle class. Smart and effective welfare entitlement reform that actually helps people move ahead rather than trapping them in a cycle of poverty is the first step. Congressman Ferguson believes these problems cannot simply be regulated away, but should look for solutions that get government out of the way of American innovation growth.
