But does simply adding real-time transportation visibility address the complex delays and widespread uncertainty pervasive in global supply chain operations today? Listen in as Monica Truelsch and John Nadvoknik from Infor speak with TEKTOK host, Karin Bursa and Supply Chain Now’s Scott Luton about the impact of supply chain uncertainty on businesses and what that means for decisions about technology investments intended to increase visibility.

Most people would jump at an offer to design a product line for Walmart, but Dr. Lisa Williams turned them down three times. It wasn’t until she watched an interview with a little girl who explained that she didn’t want to play with a black doll because she didn’t like the color of the doll’s skin that she called them back and said, ‘Yes.’
Dr. Williams is the CEO of The World of EPI, a global manufacturer of multicultural dolls, but she is not only a pioneering toy industry entrepreneur. She is also the first African American to receive a doctorate in logistics from Ohio State University, and the first African American to earn tenure at Penn State University. But even Dr. Williams’ qualifications didn’t make it easy to manufacture the line of dolls she had in mind. Her ‘yes’ was just the beginning of the journey.
In this episode, Lisa shares her amazing leadership story with host Scott Luton:
• Why it was important that the manufacturer she chose to produce the dolls not just work with her specification, but also buy into her vision
• The constant innovation and creativity required to stay competitive in the global toy business
• How the strongest visions with the most pull won’t let you walk away, even when you’ve already given everything you have

We are truly living in a time of experiences, where customer demand and preferences have to be reflected far beyond the point of sale, stretching far into the supply chain. This has driven an innovation boom in the retail industry, as people start to emerge from their homes but don’t want to lose the digital conveniences they have gotten used to over the last couple of years.
Shan Muthuvelu is the CEO of UCBOS, no code supply chain cloud software, and Venkat Gopalan is the Chief Digital Officer at Belcorp, a direct sales beauty company. In order for Belcorp to expand beyond direct sales and put their product in bricks and mortar retail locations, they have to be able to integrate their supply chain data with that of their partners and keep it up to date in real time. They need AI-enabled instant visibility.
In this interview, Shan and Venkat speak with co-hosts Allison Giddens and Scott Luton about:
• The data retailers need to help their businesses react quickly and meet the high expectations of today’s customer
• The power of a ‘DULDM’ – a dynamic unified logical data model – in cases where people in different supply chains want to collaborate or integrate
• How omnichannel fulfillment has to be allowed to change retailers’ business models so that consumers are not negatively impacted

The Supply Chain Buzz is Supply Chain Now’s regular Monday livestream, held at 12n ET each week. This show focuses on some of the leading stories from global supply chain and global business, always with special guests – the most important of which is the live audience!
Over the last two years, everyone has learned how critical, fragile, and interconnected our supply chains are. Their reach also means that seemingly insignificant consumer devices may have direct ties to high-stakes geopolitical issues half a world away. Supply Chain Now hosts Scott Luton and Kevin L. Jackson started the week of January 10th by taking on topics from rice cookers to human rights abuses in the distant province of Xinjiang in China.
In this session, created in collaboration with a live digital audience, Kevin and Scott talk about:
• The widespread implications of the fact that 63% of the world’s semiconductor chips are manufactured in Taiwan, followed by South Korea and China
• Why new orders of finished goods in December rose at the slowest rate of 2021, while manufacturing work backlogs increased
• The ongoing tensions between tech companies like Intel and China over human rights concerns in Xinjiang province
