Today I have a very special guest, Julia Flynn! Julia and I grew up together, and I have gotten to witness her love for running grow and flourish as she grew older. From a young age, I can remember Julia running while my little "sister" (listen for details!) would bike along side of her. Ever since she was little, she has had a passion and low for the sport. This passion and love took her far - she excelled in running during school, won the Junior Olympics, and now runs for Stanford. She is not only speedy, but she is smart! In this episode, we detail her running story, share some memories from our childhood, talk about fueling, and most importantly, talk about injury. Julia shares her experience moving across the country to begin running at a new school, and how she navigated injury as a Freshman. We talk about mindset shifts and affirmations she practiced while injured. We also talk about finding identity during injury, and she offers practical advice on how to navigate identity outside of sport. In fact, her injury led to the development of her very own podcast, The Amazing People Podcast! Julia is a positive and compassionate individual, and you will not want to miss this episode. If you are dealing with an injury or feel lost in identity, this episode is for you. Be sure to go check out The Amazing People Podcast for more incredible content!
