In this interview, we talk about how using a gestational carrier or surrogate has become more common in the last few years and the kinds of patients that should consider using a surrogate. We also discuss how one becomes a gestational carrier, and what the path to becoming one looks like, and how to work with an agency if you are considering one. And, no conversation about surrogacy would be complete without also sharing the psychological considerations of using a gestational carrier, for both the surrogate and for the intended parents. Because the discussion around fertility and treatment has also become more normalized, the use of a gestational carrier has become more accepted in the last decade as well, which has opened up doors for many hopeful parents.
