    • How do I gain or maintain confidence while in a marriage that's on the rocks?

  • How to Optimize The Structure of Work, Family, and Fulfillment with Dave Hollis

Can work-life balance ever be achieved?

Our guest today is Dave Hollis, and he says work-life balance is unattainable. There is no such thing because our lives constantly fluctuate. Sometimes, our kids need us. At other times, our marriage requires more attention. Maybe our health has been neglected and we need to focus on taking care of our bodies. There will also be points in our lives where work demands all of our energy. Life is unpredictable and we must be prepared to adapt.

We are stoked to have Dave Hollis on The Dad Edge. Dave worked for Disney for 17 years selling movies like Star Wars and The Avengers to theaters, and he recently left his position to help his wife Rachel develop her business. Dave tells us why he quit what most people would consider a dream job and how he and his wife grow their media company while raising four kids. He also talks about their technique called 'frontloading' to optimize the structure of work, family, and fulfillment for an incredible life.

  • Embracing the Parenting Journey

As men, we often feel alone on our journeys—especially when it comes to parenting. Today's guest is Dad Edge Alliance member, Simon. He talks about how when his wife got pregnant he didn't want to have a boy because it would force him to confront issues he didn't want to deal with. The thought of becoming a parent baffled him, but once his son was born he realized that shedding his former self and embracing the parenting journey came naturally.

  • Are You Using Work to Avoid Home Life?

Being a father and husband is full of challenges. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to handle problems at home. We have the urge to get away. It's easier to keep busy with work and focus on providing rather than wrestling with the day to day issues of family life.

Today's guest is everyday dad, Jeremy Bennett. He has been married for nineteen years and is the father of two teenage boys. Jeremy is a firefighter who is passionate about his career. Jeremy traveled frequently and became involved in the world of firefighting as a leader. He lived for the adrenaline and action in his life.

As his sons grew up, Jeremy knew he wasn't present in his role as a father. His way of dealing with tough times was to leave. One day had a wake up call and realized he needed to find a way to balance work and family life. Now he tries to help other young firefighters do the same.
