The Flop House

Stuart asks his friends a bunch of questions about themselves, and Dan and Elliott answer surprisingly sincerely. But don't worry-- there are still jokes.

Look, you didn't think we were gonna let this one go by, did you? Does Space Jam: A New Legacy live down to the legacy of the original Space Jam, a film inexplicably loved by millennials everywhere? Or does it (gasp) manage to go even lower?

ALSO: LIVE SHOW ALERT! -- We'll be doing another streaming live show, delivered directly to your computers or whatever you use for these things! Tune in on to watch us discuss the "classic" 1993 flop Super Mario Bros., do a few presentations, take a few questions via Twitter, and other assorted nonsense! Tickets are a mere $10! Hooray!

ALSO ALSO: Today is the Flop House's birthday! We don't mention it on the show, but the day this is released is FOURTEEN YEARS to the day from when we put out our first episode! Pretty amazing, and perhaps a little frightening to consider! Thank you to all who have stuck with us, and thanks to those who have just joined us. Sorry about those early shows.

We're coming at you live with another ticketed online show! We’ll be discussing 1993's SUPER MARIO BROS., the film that fulfilled Dennis Hopper's destiny of playing an evil dinosaur king, as well as bringing you exclusive-to-this-show PowerPoint presentations, audience polls, and a live Q&A "Ask the Floppers" session at the end.

Chat with your fellow floppers as we ramble on about nonsense and, occasionally, talk about Super Mario Bros. Good-bad?  Bad-bad? Or a movie you kinda pipe?

Immediately after purchasing your ticket, you'll receive a confirmation e-mail from SimpleTix with your personal link to join the live show.

Your ticket purchase also gets you access to a video recording of the live show for a whole week afterward, so you'll be able to watch the entire show even if you can't join live (or live in a part of the world where most people are asleep at 9pm Eastern).  This recording access is exclusive to ticket holders for this show.  Recording link will be e-mailed to all ticketholders the day after the show.

ACCESSIBILITY: Closed captioning will be enabled on both the live show and the recording, and you'll be able to toggle it on/off for yourself according to need/preference.

Dan challenges the others to a game he's invented that has absolutely nothing to do with Monopoly, and everything to do with how quickly we forget the dreck we watch for this podcast.

It's Cagemas in July! The second-cagiest time of year! So we invited Jordan Morris, creator of the Bubble podcast (available on Maximum Fun) and co-writer of the brand new Bubble graphic novel to come by and discuss the "aliens really like a good martial arts fight" action movie Jiu Jitsu, with a delightful turn by Mr. Cage as a wacky Yoda-like character.

We'll level with all of you -- we ALSO prefer Hallie Haglund, and are at our happiest when she comes by to join us for some film talk. So we had to pick an extra-special movie to mark the occasion. And hoo boy. That movie? The wife of former Trump treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin and controversial figure in her own right, Louise Linton's vanity project (as writer, director, producer, and star) Me You Madness. It's the movie that asks "if I make fun of myself REALLY HARD, then you're not allowed to make fun of me anymore, right?"

Whaaat? Our second Doug Liman movie in so many episodes? It's certainly hard to give Locked Down as much shit as we gave Chaos Walking -- especially when it co-stars Elliott's old flame Annie. Anyway, we hope you enjoy our usual shenanigans. Life seems to be looking up, right? Are we wrong?
