"I asked this executive team whether any of them had ever regretted removing a toxic high performer and what was quite amazing was that they not only emphatically said no, they couldn't believe they took so long to do so."
In today's minisode, I'm going to cover toxic high performers. These individuals can cause a lot of problems in your business, especially amongst other projects and colleagues, and you need a strategy to be able to deal with them.
A toxic person is someone who can bully, be mean to other people in the business, and are really difficult to deal with. They have all the power, or so they think, and very often, the executive team and the board assume that they are indispensable due to their performance and the outcomes they achieve.

We're going to talk about:
β What toxic high performers are and why they behave so poorly
β Seeking support from the executive and other stakeholders to make a move
β A 5-step process to re-align the person to the business priorities, or to remove them from their role.
Deal hope,
Greg

I love the Churchill quote, "Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. What matters is the courage to go on."
In this episode of The Inner Chief podcast, I speak to world-renowned hotel developer, Rory Hunter, on spearheading the build-to-rent movement towards sustainability, seeking solitude and healing on the ocean, and the adventure of a lifetime after buying an island in his twenties.

Rory has led multiple organisations and the development of award-winning properties across Australia and South-East Asia, including the Song Saa Private Island, which was named one of the top 10 Luxury Hotel Developments of the last decade globally.
His latest venture is MODEL - a new, Australian build-to-rent group that is committed to creating meaningful impact for future generations.
Rory previously founded SoHo Partners, and in 2013, he established the Song Saa Foundation, an independent NGO dedicated to preserving Cambodia's marine environment. A highlight of the foundation includes creating the country's first ever Marine National Park in partnership with Monaco's Prince Albert.
Rory has won numerous awards, including National Geographic's Leader in Sustainable Tourism, and is also a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, and a Global Board Member of the Young Presidents' Organization Sports and Outdoors Network.
In this episode we talk about:

"In the second half of life, you shift from focusing on serving the self to focusing on serving family and community. That's what it means to be a true Chief, to be beyond self."
In today's minisode, I give to you my top 15 lessons and learnings from this year. And what a year it's been! This year we passed 300 episodes, and we passed six years as a business with Chief Maker.
And what I like to do at the end of every year is sit back and reflect and ask myself some questions. One question that got raised this year was by our podcast guest Jay Abraham: "What got you here?"
And I thought, what better way to finish the year than a conglomeration of lessons from chiefs, from our own experiments as a business and as individuals, to see if some of the things that we have tried have played out. Because if there's one thing we know through coaching is that you're not alone.
