  • The New Future of SEO: Information Gain for Small Businesses

Today we’re diving into the concept of information gain and its impact on SEO as we move forward from ChatGPT and the emergence of other AI tools. In a world where small businesses are up against noisy competitors with vast resources we just don’t have, it’s crucial to stand out and get ahead. But how do we do that? Well, information gain might just be the answer.

We cover a survey conducted by clutch.co saying 82% of business leaders believe that AI will disrupt their businesses in the next five years. And interestingly, 84% of small businesses using AI tools plan to continue using them. So, despite the disruptions, small businesses are embracing AI.

But how can we use AI tools effectively and stay ahead in the game while still maintaining relevance? That’s a question we’ll explore in this episode.

Up against industry giants, it can be challenging for small businesses to compete and find their place. With crowded search results and limited keyword availability, what can small service providers do to create content that stands out? We’ll discuss the importance of creating valuable content that goes beyond keyword optimization and instead focuses on information gain.

We’ll explore how small businesses can leverage their unique perspectives, frameworks, and client stories to provide information that can’t be found in the top 10 search results. By getting our audience to think differently about the problems they face, we can build trust and establish ourselves as the go-to resource in our respective industries.

So, join me as I  help you create content that not only ranks well but also adds significant value in this era of information gain and AI disruptions.

Creating a Complete Content Plan for Service Providers

In the world of service providers, staying ahead is no longer just about offering the best services–you have to market your services just as well as provide them. It’s also about adding value to the client’s journey through engaging, informative, and relevant content. The process of organizing and planning all of this content is called Content Planning, and it’s a crucial part of any serious digital marketing strategy.

How and why you plan your content as an online service provider (someone who engages with clients online) will be different than if you were a local business or another kind of online business, like a course creator. Some concepts will be the same but others need to consider the unique needs of a service provider that many only want five-ten clients at any given time. This article will guide you through finding the content marketing plan that works for your business.

What Is An Online Service Provider?

First things first, let’s call out the zebra in the room… an online service provider is a business owner, typically a solopreneur or at least solo-ish, who engages with clients online. Some of these people are easy to categorize–a website designer, a virtual assistant (VA), or even a social media manager.

They’re often people who could perform there services in person, but choose to do business online.

    What is Uncommon Content?

Uncommon Content is a way of approaching content marketing specifically for online service providers–that is, those who engage with (and ultimately land) clients online. How a solo-ish service business approaches creating content online doesn’t fall within the typical content marketing audiences–we’re not content creators of the influencer persuasion, and we’re not SaaS companies churning out daily blog posts, either. But we still need content to work for us. Here’s how.

Signs you may need the Uncommon Content approach:

    * Are you tired of getting lost in the sea of sameness–aka digital marketing noise?

    * Do you want to craft content that stands out instead of conforming to the same old SEO and social media algorithms?
