We’re finally at Texas Longhorns game week, so it's time to finish off our final previews — covering the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Rice Owls.
First, we start with the future conference mate and one of the marquee non-conference matchups of the year. In 2022, Texas ran with Bama for the entirety of the game, looking like they may be more prepared for the SEC jump than previously believed. In 2023, there are questions on both sidelines as teams head into opening week.
Rice comes to town with a familiar face at quarterback, JT Daniels, who Texas faced at USC and WVU prior to his transfers. So what do the reloaded Owls bring to the table in 2023?
With just one week left until the Texas Longhorns kickoff, we reach our final position preview, the special teams.
The Longhorns were a relatively solid team in the third phase a year ago but looked to upgrade the punter spot and find a bit more consistency in the block and return game. They went out into the portal and grabbed Stanford transfer Ryan Sanborn at punter and added depth in the punting units.
Will it be enough to make the special teams a massive asset as Texas looks to achieve its season goals?

We continue rapidly approaching the kickoff of the Texas Longhorns' season so we must take a moment to dive in on the recruiting landscape before starting the final season in the Big 12.
We welcome back to the show Mike Roach of 247Sports to help us dive in on the Longhorns' recent big recruiting win, how the class is shaping up, and how Texas is preparing itself for life in the Big 12.

We are just three weeks out from the Texas Longhorns' season which means our season previews are coming to the non-conference weeks and the Wyoming Cowboys.
Wyoming struggled offensively last year and lost their key weapon in the running game, so how will the Cowboys structure the offense to hopefully improve from a year ago? We also dive in on whether or not the returning production from last year's defense is a positive and get a season prediction from our guest.

As we close in on two weeks from the Texas Longhorns' kickoff, we come to the penultimate position group preview -- the defensive backs.
This group, much like their offensive counterparts the wide receivers, have an incredibly high ceiling and a yet-to-be-determined floor. While that floor is likely quite high based on the talent of the group, a lack of meaningful cohesion and reps means this group may need a few games to fully find its stride.

We are coming closer to the season and we are on week two of our defensive previews, bringing us to the linebackers.
Jaylan Ford, preseason All-Big 12 defensive player of the year, leads the relatively unproven group that will need to mature fast in order to contribute. David Gbenda and Morice Blackwell have reps but have not reached the heights Texas needs, while elite freshman Anthony Hill has a clear path to development while finding ways to contribute.

We are rapidly approaching the Texas Longhorns' 2023 kickoff and have reached the first conference game of the year, the Baylor Bears.
Two years ago, Dave Aranda took the Bears to the conference championship, but struggled in year three and ended the year 6-7 with a conference loss. Baylor struggled defensively, while the offense had a mix of high highs and low lows. So which result is closer to the expectation for the Bears in 2023?

We are rapidly approaching the season and so too are we approaching the end of our season previews, with the Kansas Jayhawks.
The folks in Lawrence return nearly every key player from an offense that put them into the national conversation before injuries hit the quarterback position. Conversely, they lose the three best players from a defense that struggled to get stops last year.
We welcome back to the show Andy Mitts to help us work through how the Jayhawks can build off of their best season in 15 years.

We keep moving through the Texas Longhorns position-by-positon and we prepare for the 2023 football season. This week, we dive in on the defensive line, which needs to reload after a breakout year for some.
Losing Keondre Coburn and Moro Ojomo to the draft was a big hit, but returning T'Vondre Sweat to the fold gives Pete Kwiatkowski's unit a cornerstone to build a defense on. Who will join him in setting the tone for the defense?

We pick back up our position-by-position preview series and dive in on the Texas Longhorns' offensive line for the 2023 campaign.
Texas returns one of the most talented groups in the conference, including a freshman all-conference tackle and a resurgent Christian Jones at the other bookend. Between the tackles still has some questions to ask and may end up being what determines the floor and the ceiling for the unit -- and the offense as a whole. What can Kyle Flood do with the unit and who will have a level up like Jones did a year ago?
