Thanks to their recent shared success, both the Texas men and the Texas women sit atop the Big 12 standings as they head into the final stretch of the regular season.

The men played four teams ranked in the top 11 in the country over a span of 10 days, going 2-2 in the stretch. The two wins included a home win over the Baylor Bears and a road win over the Kansas State Wildcats, the only Big 12 team to beat the Longhorns in Austin. With some help from the usual conference chaos, the Longhorns' 8-3 conference record has them currently settled atop the standings as they take on the bottom three teams in their next three games.

Vic Schaefer and the Texas women are one of the hottest teams in the country right now, rattling off their sixth-consecutive win with a nine-point win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Austin. Their one-game margin at the top of the conference will likely come under duress sooner rather than later with Iowa State ahead who sits just two games out of first place in the league.

The No. 10 Texas Longhorns didn't come out of Knoxville with the result they hoped, struggling to keep up with the post play of Tennessee as a part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The No. 4 team in the country boasts one of the most efficient defenses in modern college basketball and they managed to turn that into points against the Longhorns. However, the men rebounded quickly and kept their spot in the mix at the top of the Big 12 standings, knocking off No. 11 Baylor at home - coming away with a win over the Bears for the first time since 2019.

The ladies continued their march through conference play, knocking off the Oklahoma State Cowgirls and Oklahoma Sooners and solidifying their place atop the Big 12 standings as they build momentum heading down the stretch. For their efforts, they finally break back into the Top 25, setting up another week of pivotal matchups.

The Texas Longhorns, both the men and the women, continue to put themselves in solid position to make a run at a conference title as we rapidly approach the back half of conference play.

The men, after dropping just their second conference game a week ago to the Iowa State Cyclones, responded with back-to-back wins over West Virginia and Oklahoma State to move into a three-way tie for first place in the conference. Following a weekend non-conference matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers, Texas will face another tough ranked matchup as they welcome the Baylor Bears to the Moody Center.

On the ladies' side, Texas picked up its third ranked win in four games, beating the Baylor Bears in Waco for the first time since 2017. Up next for the Longhorns, a matchup that will go a long way in deciding who will take home the women's crown as they welcome No. 14 Oklahoma to the Moody Center.

On both the men's and women's sides, the Texas Longhorns had a very successful week on the hardwood.

Under interim head coach Rodney Terry, the men's team overcame not one, but two double-digit deficits to improve to 4-1 in conference play and 7-1 since Terry took over the squad. Obviously, come-from-behind wins are not how you want it to happen every time, but making second-half adjustments is a strength for the Longhorns at the start of conference play. We dive in on what we think is causing the slow starts and how Texas manages to spark it in the second half.

On the ladies' side, in typical fashion during the Vic Schaefer era, the Longhorns have started to build momentum heading into the grind of conference play, knocking off back-to-back ranked opponents in dominant fashion. It is still early, but we dive in on early signs of another "peak at the right time" performance for Texas under Schaefer.

The Texas Longhorns moved on from basketball coach Chris Beard last week and stepped into uncertainty about the coaching future of the program. However, the Longhorns answered some questions about interim head coach Rodney Terry's ability to coach defense with a narrow win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys. What did we learn and what do we hope to see for the remainder of the season?

As football season comes to a close, so does the first semester of scoring for the Director's Cup. After winning back-to-back cups in the previous academic years, Texas improved their first-semester performance from a year ago, with the usual suspects that propel the Longhorns to victory still waiting to take center stage. The Texas Longhorns closed out the year on a disappointing note, falling to the Washington Huskies in the Alamo Bowl.

It was clear in the game that Texas missed the presence of Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, struggling to find success in the limited attempts on the ground with Keilan Robinson and Roschon Johnson. That left the game on the arm of Quinn Ewers, who answered the call well and finished with the third-best bowl performance by a quarterback in school history, in spite of his early struggles in the game. Defensively, Texas put up yet another stellar performance against a top-tier offense, holding the No. 2 passing attack in the country to its season low and future Heisman candidate Michael Penix to his second-worst outing of the year.

So what lessons did we learn about what Texas might look like in 2023 and how do we feel heading into the second full offseason of Steve Sarkisian's tenure at Texas?

After missing bowl season a year ago, the Texas Longhorns take the field one more time this year, squaring off against No. 12 Washington Huskies in the 2022 edition of the Alamo Bowl.

Texas will be without three key pieces of the equation, as Bijan Robinson, Roschon Johnson, and DeMarvion Overshown all have declared that they will be skipping the game as they prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft. That means fans will likely get a glimpse at some of next year's key contributors will look like as they face off against Michael Penix and the high-powered Huskies offense.

It was a big week for the Texas Longhorns, both for players currently competing and players potentially competing in the future.

It started on the volleyball court where Jerritt Elliott ended the Longhorns' 10-year championship drought, bringing home the NCAA title for the first time since the 2012 season. All-time great Logan Eggleston capped off her incredible college career not only with a national player of the year award but being named the tournament's most outstanding player as she led Texas to a national championship in her final game in Burnt Orange.

On the gridiron, Texas welcomed the next generation of athletes to campus as 22 players signed their National Letters of Intent with the Longhorns. The class is highlighted by No. 1 overall player Arch Manning, as well as linebacker Anthony HIll and running back Cedric Baxter, both the top players at their position.

After head coach Chris Beard was suspended Monday following his arrest, the Texas Longhorns still had a basketball game to play, taking on the Rice Owls at home as the non-conference schedule winds to a close. In spite of, or potentially because of, the distractions, the Longhorns managed to edge out a narrow win in overtime and keep their home record spotless in non-conference play.

With a week left before football's early signing period, we also welcome on friend of the show Mike Roach of Horns247 in order to help us discuss some of the high-priority targets still on the board for Texas, including five-star linebacker Anthony Hill, who Texas hopes to bring on campus this weekend for a visit. The No. 2 Texas Longhorns were one of the hottest teams in the country, coming off of a big win over No. 7 Creighton as they left the Lone Star State for the first time to participate in the Jimmy V Classic.
