  • September 14, 2021 - Arkansas Recap
The Texas Longhorns went into Fayetteville with high hopes and came away with a 40-19 beatdown at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Longhorns were unable to get their offense going at all, while the Razorbacks had a field day on the ground - rushing for 333 yards and 7.1 yards per carry in the big win. The Arkansas offensive line had their way with the Texas front, while the Longhorns' defense staff didn't seem to adjust for the downhill running of the razorbacks.
Offensively, the Longhorns continue to have issues along their offensive line and the Razorbacks took advantage of it - managing to create havoc in the Texas backfield and generate pressure with just three down lineman. The Longhorns' offense never got going and Arkansas pulled away. Head coach Steve Sarkisian made the quarterback switch in-game, taking starter Hudson Card out of the game in favor of Casey Thompson - who was officially named the starter during Monday's press conference.

  • September 11, 2021 - Instant Reaction: Texas Falls to Arkansas
The Texas Longhorns went into Fayetville with high hopes and came out with a bad headache, losing the marquee non-conference matchup 40-21 against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Texas was able to put some points up in garbage time to make it look better than it was, but the game never really felt close. Arkansas got whatever it wanted on the ground, rushing for more than 300 yards in the win. Hudson Card struggled in the game and head coach Steve Sarkisian made the change to Thompson late in the game - managing to put up two scores in that time.
The ground game did the Longhorns no favors offensively either - with Bijan Robinson managing just 3.6 yards per carry en route to 69 yards rushing. Collectively, Texas managed just 118 passing yards and allowed three sacks in the loss.
The Longhorns now have a lot of questions they need to answer in the week ahead of Rice, hopefully getting their ducks in a row before starting conference play in two weeks.

  • September 9, 2021 - Arkansas Razorbacks Preview
The Texas Longhorns have another tough test facing them in the young season, heading to Fayetville, AR to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in front of a sold-out crowd. Arkansas may have had a few down years, but the Razorbacks are definitely going to be ready for this game - a rivalry that dates back to the old Southwest Conference.
The Razorbacks opened their regular season with a come-from-behind win over the Rice Owls, thanks to some big defensive performances and a late surge from quarterback KJ Jefferson and the offense. Their star wide receiver Treylon Burks played hurt against Rice, but he should be healthy for the matchup Saturday and when he's healthy he's one of the top receiving threats in the country. The Razorbacks will also be without star linebacker Bumper Pool for the first half after he was ejected for targeting in the second half of the opener.

  • September 7, 2021 - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Recap
The Texas Longhorns came out and took care of business in the first game of the Steve Sarkisian era, knocking off the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 38-18 in a game that never really felt close.
Offensively, the Longhorns did a great job getting their playmakers involved early and often, with both Bijan Robinson and Jordan Whittington putting up career numbers. Hudson Card looked in control of the offense, but Sarkisian made good on his word to play both quarterbacks. What did we think of the offense and the quarterbacks? What questions do we still have as Texas heads into Week 2?
Defensively, we got a look at what the Longhorns can do, with both of the inside linebackers - DeMarvion Overshown and Luke Brockermeyer - sitting atop of the stat sheet at the end of the day. Texas showed vast improvement in some areas, but what else do we need to see to feel confident in that unit?

  • September 2, 2021 - Lousiana Ragin' Cajuns Preview
After a long offseason, gameday is just around the corner and the Texas Longhorns are prepared to square off against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to kick off the 2021 season and the Steve Sarkisian era. Texas has taken on Louisiana twice - once in 2000 and again in 2005 - winning by a combined score of 112-13. However, this is not the Ragin' Cajuns that long-time Texas fans will remember playing in the past.
Louisiana head coach Billy Napier took over the program three years ago and turned things around in a hurry - managing to win 11 games in his second season and had a shot at a conference championship in 2020. That 2020 campaign also added another feather in his cap, knocking off the Iowa State Cyclones in the season opener a year ago. Coming to Austin with Napier is super-senior quarterback Levi Lewis, who has been stellar over the last two seasons - passing for 5,324 yards, 45 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions in two seasons.
So what do we hope to see from the Longhorns on Saturday and who do we think will have a big game?

  • August 31, 2021 - New QB, New Depth Chart and Season Predictions
Heading into the first game week of the 2021 season, new Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian released the 2021 depth chart - which included confirmation that Hudson Card is officially QB1 for the Texas Longhorns. The highly-touted commit out of Lake Travis High School takes the reins of a talented, but untested offensive unit into the new season. What do we hope to see from the young signal-caller and how do we think he meshes with the other talent on the offense?
Defensively, Texas returns a lot of experience in pockets with a very high ceiling. Anchored by a stout defensive line and a secondary that could be special if all of the pieces live up to their highly-recruited billing. Pete Kwiatkowski spent the attacked the transfer portal along the egest to supplement the talented group left behind by the previous coaching staff. Is it enough to be competitive in the Big 12?

  • August 26, 2021 - Kansas State Wildcats Preview
The final week of previewing the Texas Longhorns' 2021 schedule brings us to the Kansas State Wildcats - who are hoping to rebound off of a disappointing year thanks to injuries and COVID-19 protocols. Head coach Chris Klieman is heading into his third year on the sidelines after replacing legendary coach Bill Snyder, hoping that year three looks more like year one in an effort to keep himself off of the hot seat. Thankfully for him, he brings back Skylar Thompson and Deuce Vaughn - two dynamic playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. This team may not resemble your typical Kansas State team - being led by the offense rather than the defense.
So what are expectations for year three of the Klieman era? Can they get it done relying on the offense or will they need to rely on the transfers on the defensive side of the ball to hold things down?

  • August 24, 2021 - Scrimmage 2 and DB Preview
The Texas Longhorns wrap up preseason practice with their second scrimmage of the year before heading into their two weeks of game preparation before the kickoff against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. A week after expressing concerns about the quarterbacks, head coach Steve Sarkisian had praise for both Casey Thompson and Hudson Card as they continue to vie for the starting quarterback position. Who else did he have kind words for and who should we expect to play a big role in the offense moving forward?
We also dive in on our final positional preview of the offseason, focusing on the secondary - a group with a lot of talent and just as many questions about how they will fit together in the new system. What will a group of upper-classmen look like as they try to learn their third defensive system in an offense-heave league like the Big 12?

  • August 19, 2021 - WVU Preview
We are getting closer and closer to starting the Texas Longhorn's football season and with just two previews left bringing us to the West Virginia Mountaineers. Head coach Neil Brown is exactly .500 in his first two seasons after capping off 2020 with a bowl win over the Army Black Knights. He's approaching a prove-it year and has an opportunity to take the pressure off of himself with a good season with the Mountaineers. He gets back one of the top backs in the country in Leddie Brown, who finished second to the nation's leading rusher in Breece Hall last year, as well as an experienced quarterback in Jarrett Doege - who is taking advantage of the COVID eligibility rules.
Perhaps the biggest question is the WVU offensive line, returning three starters from a unit that struggled to keep Doege upright a year ago - in addition to adding two new members to the unit. Can the Mountaineers rely on their defense yet again to keep them in games?
