The Longhorn Republic

It wasn't pretty, but the Texas Longhorns managed to hold off the West Virginia Mountaineers for a 17-13 win to head into the bye week riding a three-game win streak. For Texas, the win means their hopes for a berth in the Big 12 Championship game are still alive, in spite of needing help from others.

So how did Texas manage to get it done with the offensive struggles? And how did the defense fully turn the corner?

The Texas Longhorns continue their march out of the middle of the Big 12 conference with a tough home tilt against the West Virginia Mountaineers. Unlike the normal case in the Big 12, Texas will once again face one of the top defenses in the country as the Mountaineers come to Austin.

So what does Texas need to do to extend its streak to three games? What should the offense be wary about and what should the defense be prepared for?

The Texas Longhorns managed to do something they haven't done since 2014, go into Stillwater and come out with a win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Texas managed to get it done on defense, relying on the defensive line and a career day from Joseph Ossai. Texas created havoc in the backfield, resulting in turnovers and giving Texas a chance to win in spite of some offensive struggles.

The Texas Longhorns are trying to climb out of the middle of the Big 12 and that trek continues on Saturday as they head to Stillwater to take on the No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The Cowboys, at least so far in 2020, bring one of the top defenses in the conference to the matchup, as Texas still tries to figure out what they're going to do on offense. Defensively, Texas has come up with a few stops, but hasn't really capitalized on all of the opportunities, which they will need to do on Saturday.

The Texas Longhorns did something that has become somewhat of a routine as of late, they went into the Cotton Bowl to square off against the Oklahoma Sooners and were unable to capitalize on enough openings to come away with a win.

Whether offensively or defensively, Texas missed chances to win the game both in overtime and in regulation, dropping their record on the season to just 2-2 overall, 1-2 in conference play. What happened against the Sooners and where do they go from here?
