What if confidence isn’t about you at all?
The world tells us confidence is self-exaltation. The Bible tells a different story.
You were created to live a life that is significant, fruitful, courageous, and confident— not to make yourself look great… but to make Christ look great.
Here’s the shift:
Confidence rooted in self = pressure, comparison, pride
Confidence rooted in Christ = freedom, purpose, peace
The secret to confidence is remembering who it’s tethered to—and who it’s for.
When your confidence is anchored in Christ: • You can show up boldly without needing recognition • You can use your gifts fully without shrinking or striving • You can make decisions, take action, even get dressed… on purpose
Because it’s no longer about proving yourself. It’s about reflecting Him.
“From Him and through Him and to Him are all things…” (Romans 11:36)
Friend, you can live a confident, joyful, impactful life— not because of who you are alone, but because of Who you belong to.
That’s where real confidence begins.
John Piper article referenced: https://www.desiringgod.org/interviews/am-i-confident-or-arrogant
And if you’re ready to step into that kind of confidence in your real, everyday life—I’d love to walk with you.

There is a specific kind of guilt that comes with not journaling for a while.
It’s quiet. Persistent. Heavy.
It says: “I should’ve kept going.” “I missed too much.” “I don’t even deserve to open it again.”
If you’re carrying that — this episode is for you.
Prompt 1
What story am I telling myself about the time I didn’t journal?
Prompt 2
What if nothing went wrong during that gap?
Let this land slowly.
Prompt 3
What would it feel like to come back without apology?
Prompt 4
What is the gentlest possible way to begin again today?

There comes a moment — often quietly — when journaling doesn’t feel the way it used to.
The prompts don’t land. The rhythm feels off. The pages feel heavy or irrelevant.
And instead of honoring that shift, many women think: “What’s wrong with me?”
Today, I want to tell you the truth:
Nothing is wrong. You’re allowed to change your mind.
Prompt 1
What about journaling feels heavy or outdated right now?
Prompt 2
How have I changed in this season of life?
Emotionally. Spiritually. Practically.
Prompt 3
If my journal could meet me where I am today, what might it offer?
Prompt 4
What would it feel like to release the way I “should” journal?

There’s a very specific woman I’m picturing as I record this episode.
She wants to journal. She believes in journaling. She even owns the notebook.
But she doesn’t open it — not because she doesn’t care, but because she cares so much.
Because somewhere along the way, journaling became something that only “counts” if it’s:
And if she can’t do it that way, she wonders if it’s worth doing at all.
If that’s you, I want you to hear this gently and clearly:
You are allowed to start small.
Prompt 1
If journaling didn’t require effort or insight, what might I write today?
Prompt 2
What pressure makes me hesitate to start?
Let the pressure be seen — not fixed.
Prompt 3
What feels true right now, even if it feels small or ordinary?
Prompt 4
What if one sentence is not the minimum — but the miracle?

One of the questions I get asked most often sounds simple on the surface:
“What do you actually journal about?”
Not prompts. Not techniques. Not what you recommend to clients.
But you.
What do you write about — as a coach, a mom, and a woman in midlife?
And I love this question, because underneath it is usually something else:
“Is my life too ordinary… too messy… too full… for journaling to matter?”
So today, I want to gently pull back the curtain and show you what journaling actually looks like in my real life.
Not every day. Not perfectly. But honestly.
Prompt 1: Showing Up
How do I want to show up in the spaces that matter most to me right now?
Prompt 2: Decision on Paper
What decision feels unfinished in my mind — and what happens if I let it unfold on paper?
Prompt 3: Prayerful Honesty
God, this is what feels heavy right now…
Write without filtering.
Prompt 4: Anchoring Truth
What Scripture do I need to sit with — not rush past — in this season?
Prompt 5: Refuge Check
If my journal were a refuge today, what would I bring into it?

I want to start today by saying something out loud that I think a lot of women secretly wonder about.
Even women who listen to this podcast. Even women who love journaling. Even women who teach journaling.
Sometimes… I skip it.
Not because I don’t believe in it. Not because it doesn’t help. But because I’m human.
And if you’ve ever thought, “If I can’t journal every day, why even bother?” this episode is especially for you.
Prompt 1: Releasing All-or-Nothing
What do I make it mean when I skip journaling?
Name the story — without judgment.
Prompt 2: Expanding the Toolbox
What other practices help me process, regulate, or connect with God?
Honor them.
Prompt 3: Redefining Success
If journaling didn’t have to be daily to matter, how would I relate to it?
Let this answer feel freeing.
Prompt 4: Permission Statement
What permission do I need to give myself around journaling right now?
Write it like a gift.
Prompt 5: Gentle Return
When I do come back to journaling, how do I want it to feel?
Not productive — supportive.

Let’s start with a question I hear quietly — often whispered in DMs or coaching sessions:
“Is journaling supposed to feel this hard?”
Because no one tells you this at the beginning.
They show you beautiful notebooks. They talk about clarity and peace. They make it sound grounding and calming and soothing.
And then you sit down to journal… and you feel resistant. Or emotional. Or awkward. Or nothing at all.
And you think, Maybe I’m doing this wrong.
Today, we’re telling the truth about that.
Prompt 1: Naming the Experience
What feels hard about journaling right now?
No fixing. Just naming.
Prompt 2: Resistance as Information
If my resistance could talk, what might it be trying to protect me from?
Prompt 3: Emotional Check-In
What emotions feel closest to the surface today?
You don’t need to analyze them.
Prompt 4: Safety First
What would make journaling feel even 5% safer right now?
Shorter. Slower. Softer.
Prompt 5: Permission to Be Awkward
If journaling didn’t have to be graceful, what might I write?
Let it be messy.

There’s a question I hear all the time — sometimes out loud, but more often underneath what women are really asking.
It sounds like this:
“What if I’m doing journaling wrong?”
Not: “Is journaling helpful?” Not: “Should I journal?”
But: “What if I’m messing this up before I even start?”
If you’ve ever opened a journal… written a few words… then stopped because you thought, This doesn’t feel right —
this episode is for you.
Today we’re going to gently dismantle the idea that there is a “right way” to journal — and replace it with something much safer.
Prompt 1: Releasing the Standard
What rules do I think journaling is supposed to follow?
Just notice them.
Prompt 2: Finding Your Way
When journaling has helped me in the past, what made it helpful?
This honors your lived experience.
Prompt 3: Tool Permission
What form of journaling feels easiest for me right now — and why?
Ease is wisdom.
Prompt 4: Returning Gently
If I returned to journaling without guilt, what would I write first?
Let it be simple.
Prompt 5: Truth Statement
There is no wrong way to journal because…
Finish the sentence honestly.

Today’s episode feels really special to me — because The Journaling Room is officially turning one year old.
And when I thought about how I wanted to mark this anniversary, I didn’t want to do something complicated or flashy.
I wanted to come back to the very beginning.
Because if there’s one thing I know after a year of conversations, coaching, and messages from listeners, it’s this:
So many women want to journal… but feel quietly unsure if they’re doing it right.
So for the next three episodes, we’re doing a back-to-basics series — especially for:
Today, we’re answering three of the most common questions I hear.
And we’re answering them with permission, not pressure.
Prompt 1: Permission
What permission do I need to give myself around journaling right now?
Prompt 2: Simple Start
If I wrote one honest sentence today, what would it be?
Prompt 3: Enough
What does “enough” look like for me in this season — not forever, just now?
Prompt 4: Relationship Check
How do I want my journaling practice to feel — not how do I want it to look?

I get asked this question a lot:
“What does your morning journaling routine look like?”
And I understand why people ask.
We love routines. We love knowing what works. And we secretly hope that if we just copy someone else’s rhythm, things will feel calmer and clearer.
But here’s the honest answer I always lead with:
My morning journaling rhythm changes. And not because I lack discipline. But because I have a life.
If you’ve ever had a journaling routine that worked beautifully for a season… and then suddenly didn’t — this episode is for you.
Prompt 1: Naming the Season
What season of life am I in right now — practically and emotionally?
Let it be descriptive, not evaluative.
Prompt 2: Capacity Check
What does my current capacity realistically allow for in the mornings?
Be honest, not aspirational.
Prompt 3: Releasing Comparison
What version of my journaling rhythm am I comparing myself to?
This brings compassion to quiet self-judgment.
Prompt 4: Gentle Adjustment
What would a supportive journaling rhythm look like for this season — not forever, just for now?
Small is wise.
Prompt 5: Permission Statement
What permission do I need to give myself about journaling right now?
Write it like a blessing.
