When I reflect on my personal journey with gratitude, I realize it has impacted my life on a seriously deep level, probably deeper than any achievement, money saving strategies or systems I’ve used in the past. As a Type A achiever I used to think that gratitude was a slippery slope to complacency.
I now know that gratitude is the cornerstone to launch your life into the next level. Gratitude and wanting to grow are not mutually exclusive. I know I’m not unique in this grappling with gratitude and growth. I love personal development and growth and now my gratitude practice is a part of that journey.
I think what’s super interesting about this topic, especially when it comes to achievement and appreciation, is that I’ve been doing this gratitude practice for years. Sometimes more consistently, sometimes less, and what I focus on, I find. When I’m consistently doing my gratitude practice I’m more grateful. Period. I find things to be grateful for even on the shittiest days.
In this episode we are diving into the deep end of gratitude, it’s raw (spoiler alert: I cry… twice), it’s real, it’s me thanking you and sharing why my heart has changed in this gratitude of arena.
For years I was underpaid as a PA – it wasn’t until *this* year that I realized I wasn’t being paid what I am worth, not because I’m not skilled, but because I don’t know how to negotiate well. I was busy doing surgery, rushing home to see my kids, and staying in my own lane, keeping my head down and cashing my paycheck.
But things changed when I got *super* burned out in the middle of a global pandemic. I was disconnected from my work, actually physically ill and emotional past the point of no return and I quit my job. As I’ve navigated these last two years it’s become clear to me that PAs are providing huge economic value to practices, improving patient care, and it’s mind-blowing how poorly we are compensated.
I’m sharing the five most common mistakes that PAs make when asking for a raise. You deserve more. You are worth more. These negotiation mistakes and what to do instead are going to help you craft a pitch that will land you that raise, better hours, admin time, and maybe even another PA in your office to share the load.
I’d avoided my own negotiations too long, because… sweaty armpits and *I work with surgeons*... but creating a plan for negotiating and executing it, even with nerves, ended up being one of the biggest blessings to our family.

Are you looking left and right while charting and wondering if your colleagues are earning more money than you? If you’re in the know about the AAPA Salary Survey or you don’t understand the world of salary and effective negotiation, you’re not alone, we didn’t really know either.
There is so much goodness in that AAPA Salary Survey report (and in 2022 it’s interactive!) So while the healthcare industry has lost it’s mind with compensation and brand new baby nurses are being paid $30,000 sign on bonuses, learning about the physician associate gender wage gap is something you are going to want to do.
The PA Gender Wage Gap. What’s the first thing you think of when you hear that? Maybe you’re thinking - well, I work part time or I have better boundaries than my male PA colleagues - but here’s the thing - you are doing the same job! Maybe you are skeptical about the data but have a healthy curiosity to learn more.
The AAPA Salary Survey revealed in 2018 that female PAs are making, on average are earning $11,500 less per year than their male-identifying colleagues. This means that for every $1.00 that male colleagues are making, female-identifying PAs are earning only $0.90. The mean male PA salary is nearly $12,000 per year more than the mean female PA salary!
$11,500 invested in a solid index fund over the course of a 30 year career compounds to be 4.5Million dollars at the age of retirement. Holy moly!
Get ready to get fired up about how much you are earning and feel inspired to create a plan for negotiation!

Unpacking the phrase "life moves at the speed of the feed" and how social media has infiltrated our lives. Social media is a never-ending diet of other people's lives, vacations, pregnancy announcements, targeted ads. Social media is an all you can eat buffet that can lead to comparison and dissent in your life.
Myth: Life moves at the speed of the feed.
Truth: You get to choose the speed at which you live your life.
Be empowered to screen who you follow, control your diet of social media comparisons and control your appetite for other people's lives.
Let's unfollow people who are no longer serving us, diversify our feed, and decrease our appetite for and consumption of social media.

In life when we feel out of alignment or resentful or dissatisfied with our life when we have those moments when we're looking around and what we see around us is not reflective of what we truly want our life to be like what that often comes down to.
We either don't know what we value or we know what we value but we're not living in alignment with those values and this is something that can seem very obscure or intangible.
Here I am talking about identifying values and living into those values and you're thinking “listen, Tracy I'm going to be at daycare in 4 minutes! How do I actually implement this into my life?”
There's a big puzzle piece missing in between where you are and where you want to be. Your destination is living in alignment with your values.
First you have to figure out what your core values are and then you have to figure out how to live into those values.
