The Power of Storytelling with Attorney and Gallery Owner, Sonya Pfeiffer
In this episode, Sonya and I discuss the trough-line of her many diverse careers—storytelling. Stories are a powerful catalyst for change. They can shift attitudes, influence action, and breed truth and love just as much as they can misinformation and hate.
Per usual, I go down many different rabbit holes, as Sonya and I discuss:
- A reporter's responsibility to provide unbiased news
- How fear alters narratives and drives agendas
- The state of the U.S.'s political divide
- How we view criminals
- How art can be a gentle catalyst in creating dialogue around challenging conversations.
About Sonya Pfeiffer:
Sonya spent many years as an investigative reporter covering stories internationally and across the U.S. While still reporting, Sonya attended law school at Chapel Hill. Today, Sonya is a criminal defense attorney and civil rights lawyer specializing in wrongful conviction litigation. And owns and directs the Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art, a fine arts gallery in Charlotte North Carolina.
