Today my guest is Rod Khleif, who made $50 million in real estate, lost it, then made it back again. Born in the Netherlands, Rod immigrated to the US at age six with his brother and mother. Growing up in Denver, Colorado, his family didn’t have much. They shopped for groceries at an expired food store, and wore clothes from Goodwill and the Salvation Army. “We really struggled, but I knew I wanted more,” he says.

 

At age 18 Rod said, “Screw college.” He got his real estate license and made $8000 during his first year; $10,000 his second year, and over $100,000 his third year (which back in 1980 was “some pretty decent change”). What happened between year two and year three that caused Rod to 10X his income? The answer has to do with mindset and psychology—both of which impact 80% to 90% of your success in anything you do, Rod says.

 

In this episode, we discuss:

 

• His mom’s incredible work ethic and her own success in investing

• How Rod has owned over 2000 houses and thousands of apartment units (in 2006, his net worth went up $17 million while he slept)—he thought was “a real estate God—and when that happens, the God of the universe will give you a nice little smack-down”

• How he lost $50 million in 2008-2009

• The mindset it takes not only to make $50 million, but to recover from losing that

• How there’s incredible opportunity coming today—and everything, including real estate, is going on sale

• Why you should “pick your vehicle (for wealth) now and learn it as fast as possible, but don’t tie your identity to your vehicle—“If your vehicle fails, that’s fine. You’re not a failure.”

• Why we must be either “all in” or “all out” in our decisions

 

“The world needs leaders more than ever right now,” says Rod. “It’s important to pay attention to what you bring in, and focus your mindset in the right direction. Be careful who you allow to influence you. Get around people that want more out of life. Wherever your focus goes, energy flows.”

 

It’s important to have goals, especially in this economic environment. You have to know what you want and why you want it. Create a hunger in yourself, so you can push through fear and limiting beliefs.

Here’s an important truth that will help you move through any problem that you appear to be stuck in:

 

The “problem” is never the problem. The only “problem” you have is a lack of vision.

 

The Bible says, “Without vision, the people will perish.” This has to do with the idea of “faith.” Having a vision allows you to see past the problem, by using your “inner eye.”

 

Ecclesiastes 10:19 says money is the answer to everything—because if we have enough money to deal with the problems in our life, then we won’t be forced to deal with them at the level of the problem. We can pay other people to handle and resolve those problems for us.

 

In this episode I discuss:

 

• How people get stuck in “the illusion of choice”

• How most people grew up in an environment where nobody encouraged them to cultivate a vision for their life—so they just did whatever school, parents, or teachers told them to do

• Why you must have a vision—because without a vision, any “problem” you experience will pull you down to the level of the problem and force you to fight that problem at that level

• Why your vision should be big and bright enough to cause expansion—so that it creates an internal “pull” in you that moves your life forward

• How all success is based on the principle of consistency—i.e., doing the right things over time in order to get the results you want

• Why you must get rid of the contradictions and “I’m supposed to’s”—and stop listening to people who don’t inspire you and who aren’t actually trying to help you move forward

 

When you have the right vision, this creates faith. Faith gives you the courage to move through things that are difficult. The vision gives you inspiration. It gets you out of bed every morning to go after the thing you truly want.

In order to become successful, you must have a strong understanding of “faith.” I don’t mean “religious faith,” where you just accept whatever ideas were taught and passed down to you; nor do I mean an intellectualized idea of faith.

 

I’m talking about “active faith,” which moves mountains. Active faith is one of the most essential mindset ideas, principles, and techniques that you can use to create the success you want in life. This type of faith does things that the average person would be astounded by.

 

All the comforts of modern-day society came out of people having faith and a belief in something that didn’t exist yet. They had faith in a direction they wanted to go. People today constantly complain about, and take for granted things that didn’t even exist during our great grandparents’ lives.

 

In today’s episode you’ll learn:

 

• How our perception of success influences what we actually see in our daily life

• Success does not come down the mountain to meet you—it’s always at the top of the mountain

• The voice you listen to in your mind is the voice you believe and have faith in

• The 2 things you must know if you want to be successful (where you are, and where you’re going)

• You cannot be where you are and go where you want to be without stepping in and becoming something different—you must grow

• In order to grow, you have to expand your environment, meaning that you need new information, new challenges, and usually new people

• You can’t get to where you want to go by staying where you are

 

In today’s world, you can’t escape the negativity that’s everywhere. Faith is the ability to move forward, regardless of fear and negative voices in your head. Faith allows you to overcome the voices of doubt, worry, fear, “there’s not enough,” and the idea that we can’t move forward. Faith is something that’s heard—and when we hear it, it’s usually coming from the voice inside of ourselves.

In my industry, I do speaking, I coach and train people, I’m an author, I do seminars and workshops, and lots of other things. Underlying all of this, I have a fascination with the word “believe.” What does it mean to have belief in something?

 

Belief is the internal power of your own spiritual force to be able to be, do and have what you want in life. In the Bible, it basically says, “If you believe it (if you have faith), you can move a mountain.” In biblical times, the word “believe” was taken very seriously. In modern times, we use the word much more loosely. Have we lost the power behind what belief really is?

 

What do you have to believe, so that you can “move a mountain” in your life? And how do you create that belief?

 

In today’s episode you’ll learn:

 

• How to build a belief and how to use it to manifest what you want out of life

 

• Whether or not you have belief is indicated by whether you have the results you want

 

• We’re all here to “move the mountain”—and that mountain is different for all of us; we have to change certain things about ourselves in order to be able to move the mountain

 

• Being worthy is part of believing—worthiness comes from believing God put you here for a specific purpose

 

• We all have very specific desires that lead us in specific directions in our life

 

• We can create our own life, or we can destroy it—but it all starts with belief

 

• Doubt, concern, and worry don’t exist when you have belief—because you 100% believe with your whole being that you’re going to do something (you don’t question it)

 

The first question to ask yourself is always, “What do you want?”

 

Know that God is on your side. The universe is on your side, and it wants you to win. What do you believe? And are you willing to build the belief inside of yourself to create the life you desire?

For quite some time, I’ve noticed that the men in this world are becoming more timid. People in general are afraid to stand up for something and be bold. (This includes both men and women, but today I’m specifically talking about men.)

 

There’s a lot of nonsense going on about who we’re supposed to be as individuals, especially regarding our gender. We’re losing the boldness that’s within all humanity, within all people, because we’re living in a world that makes people so damn insecure about everything they do.

 

The truth is, boldness is in every one of us. God gave each of us boldness. But at some point in our life, we were talked out of being bold.

• How I got introduced to network marketing around 1996—and how that played a significant role in me being who I am today
• How I knew my destiny was to go into business for myself, but I didn’t know how
• How two cassette tapes by Bob Proctor captivated me and changed my life; he was the first person I’d ever heard bringing the idea of “Spirit” or God into the self-development and business space

Today I’m interviewing Bob Gauvreau, a Chartered Professional Accountant who has worked in public accounting for over 10 years and has practiced public accounting in his own firm since 2008. His company, Gauvreau Accounting Tax Law Advisory, works across North America providing accounting, bookkeeping, tax services, tax guidance, and financial strategy for business owners.

 

Bob’s mission is to empower entrepreneurs and small business owners with financial information, so they can be confident to make informed decisions and change the world. He created his “Profit Simple” approach to finances (which is different from “Profit First”)—in which there are 3 components of finances that we should be aware of. Our finances need to be 1) up-to-date, 2) accurate, and 3) we need to be able to interpret our financial data in a way that allows us to make really good, informed decisions.

 

In today’s episode Bob and I discuss:

 

• Why it’s important for business owners to have scheduled financial reviews every month, and what they can do to set themselves up for success

• Profit margins (i.e., revenue minus the cost of delivering that revenue), and why they’re so important

• Why we must stop being wasteful in our finances—and cut out any fixed expenses that we don’t need such as dues and subscriptions that we’re not using (to save the equivalent of one child’s annual tuition fees for post-secondary education)

You were born to be a success. It’s literally built into your DNA for you to be successful. Yet, so many people would say they’re NOT successful, and that they spend their  life doing things they don’t like doing. That’s why the first place we start is to ask: “What do I really want in life?”

 

Whether or not you manifest the thing you want has a lot to do with your paradigm. A paradigm consists of a person’s beliefs—which usually stem from beliefs that were given to them as a child. These patterns and beliefs run consistently in the background without any conscious effort on your part. They’ll continually produce results in your life, unless you do something to change them.

 

In this episode you’ll learn:

 

• “What we believe determines what we shall see”

• If you want different results, you have to change the paradigm and beliefs that are causing those results to show up

• The key to getting what you want is consistency—and you’re either consistently doing things to create results you DON’T want, or you’re consistently doing things to create results you DO want

• How many people are being consistent around failure (not success), due to a paradigm they have

• Most people are consistently NOT giving; they’re just looking to get

• We can control how we feel about what we’re doing, based on the meaning we’ve attached to it

• Nothing happens until a sale is made—but when you’ve got conflicting beliefs around sales, this causes major issues in your business

 

Look at one specific result in your life. Ask yourself, “What do I believe about this?”

 

How many times have you wanted a different result, and you have the head knowledge on how to change it—but you don’t stick with it long enough to change it? How many times have you started doing it, but then you stopped and didn’t follow through with it? This indicates that you have a belief or a meaning attached to it that’s preventing you from doing what you want to do.

Do you understand the secrets of success? Do you have a clear understanding of what exactly you need to BE, DO, and HAVE in order to create the life you truly want to live? Understanding the secrets of success can make all the difference between having amazing success in your life—versus not getting there.

 

In Working with the Law, Raymond Holliwell writes about how true desire is the key to all of this. “No desire is felt until the supply is ready to appear. And no mind can be conscious of a need or a desire unless the possibility of its fulfillment already exists.” This means if you have a desire for something (a new house, new car, successful business, etc.), the way to bring it into your life is already here—right now.

You just have to follow the cycle of success:

1. Awareness — become aware of your desire
   
   
2. Decision — make a decision to attain that desire
   
   
3. Opportunity — see the opportunity that’s right in front of you and say “yes” to it
   
   
4. Change — change whatever you need to change in order to act on that opportunity
   
   
5. Adapt — start to adapt to those changes

 

You can manifest things really fast in your life, once you understand the laws of the universe—especially the law of cause and effect, and the law of polarity.

 

In this episode you’ll learn:

 

• Success is your birthright; you were born to be a success

• To succeed at making money, you only need 2 things

• You don’t need to know “how” something will happen before you make a decision

• You must continuously say “yes” to an opportunity if it has the potential to get you where you want to go

As we go through life, we have many different experiences, circumstances, and results. And we’re constantly having thoughts, reactions, and emotions towards those things.

 

When we stop and say, “Why am I having this thought?”—this brings consciousness to our mind. If you want to create the life or business you desire, you must take responsibility for everything you’re experiencing, whether good or bad. Accepting responsibility for our results—and choosing to change them (if we want different results)—is one of the most powerful things we can do as humans.

 

Creating a new result starts with using your marvelous imagination ,which is one of the intellectual factors of our conscious mind. It requires you to create and “hold the image” of the thing you desire. This is what starts the creative process from nothing. Anything the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

 

In this episode you’ll learn:

 

• One question to ask yourself that will help you take responsibility for your results: “Why am I choosing to have this experience?”

 

• Desire  is a feeling inside of you that reveals your purpose in life; it’s a spiritual function

 

• Why you must get emotionally involved with the thing you desire 

 

• How the subconscious mind causes you to act on autopilot; it keeps creating the same thing day after day

 

• How “constant spaced repetition” programs your subconscious mind

 

• How to impress a new image upon your subconscious mind by using visualization, so that it takes over and you start manifesting your desire on a regular basis

 

• Why you don’t need to know “how” something will happen—instead, you must first make a DECISION to do something

 

Plus, I will give you an exercise to help you identify your desires and differentiate them from mere “wants” or “wishes.” A desire means it’s burning hot and you MUST have it—you can’t live without it. You’re willing to do whatever it takes to be, do, or have that thing in your life. There’s intensity behind a true desire—unlike a wish or a want, which is just a cool thing to have
