  • Why Lori Vallow Daybell Is Her Own Worst Enemy
In a recent episode of the renowned podcast "Hidden Killers," former prosecutor Laurie Gilbertson joined host Tony Brueski for a penetrating discussion on the Lori Vallow DeBell sentencing. The case, under the national spotlight, has raised eyebrows and spurred many questions, particularly about Vallow DeBell's strange behavior and statements during the sentencing.

"Clearly delusional and completely off base from the reality that everyone else in the room had gone through," is how Gilbertson described the eight-minute rant from Vallow DeBell during her sentencing. She proceeded to speculate that Vallow DeBell likely overruled her attorney's advice against making a statement. Gilbertson noted that it's uncommon for defense attorneys to encourage their clients to speak, as it typically doesn't benefit their cause.

"Lori wanted to share with everybody all of the delusional things that were in her head," Gilbertson said. She suggested that Vallow DeBell's decision to make a statement demonstrated her desire for attention and a disregard for its effect on the families involved, as well as the implications it could have on her own sentencing.

Gilbertson also addressed the surprisingly affectionate tone of the defense attorney's statement, describing it as an almost "love letter nature." She further noted, "It went above and beyond vigorously defending his client."

Gilbertson speculated that the defense attorney's sentiments, which she referred to as "bizarre," might have resulted from prolonged exposure to Vallow DeBell during the trial. She also suggested that the attorney's statement lacked an understanding of how his words would be perceived and the damage they could do to his client's case.

The former prosecutor also shared insights on what's next for Vallow DeBell. "She'll be extradited to Arizona eventually here by the end of the year to face the charges in the death of Charles Vallow," Gilbertson revealed.

However, the question of whether Vallow DeBell is mentally competent to stand trial in Arizona has arisen. Gilbertson shared that Vallow DeBell's mental health had prompted her to investigate how Arizona handles such cases, especially given Idaho's lack of an insanity defense.

Gilbertson raised the issue of the feasibility of another trial for Vallow DeBell, given the resources it would require, the toll it would take on the victims' families, and the fact that she had already been sentenced to life terms. However, Gilbertson also acknowledged the importance of justice for the other victim, Charles Vallow.

Regarding Vallow DeBell's future representation, Gilbertson said, "Maybe she will have an attorney more grounded in reality, who will choose to handle this in a more pragmatic way than spouting craziness."

The Lori Vallow DeBell case has stirred a national conversation about legal defense strategies and mental health's role in criminal cases. This insightful dialogue between Tony Brueski and Laurie Gilbertson offers a deeper understanding of the complex issues.

  • Lori Vallow Daybell Hit With More Murder Charges
The saga of Lori Vallow Daybell, often referred to as the "Doomsday Mom", continues as she is slated to face charges in Arizona, following the completion of her case in Idaho. The Maricopa County Attorney, Rachel Mitchell, announced her intent to file extradition papers for Daybell, who could return to Arizona before year's end. This process is expected to take three to four months.

Daybell's legal complications are far from over. Mitchell divulged, "She is facing two conspiracy cases. One is out of Gilbert for an attempted murder and the other is out of Chandler for an actual murder. So, those would be on top of the convictions she's already received out of Idaho." Daybell's anticipated arrival in Arizona will lead to her detention at a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office jail for what could be a protracted period.

Daybell, aged 50, was sentenced on Monday to life imprisonment without parole for the deaths of her two youngest children and a woman she perceived as a romantic adversary. This complex case was rife with peculiar claims. Daybell suggested that her children were zombies and that she was a divine entity charged with instigating an apocalypse, earning her the "Doomsday Mom" nickname.

In May, Daybell was declared guilty for the killings of her two youngest children, 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, and for conspiring to murder Tammy Daybell, the previous wife of her fifth husband. Chad Daybell, her husband, awaits trial on identical murder charges.

In Arizona, Daybell will face severe charges. In 2021, a Maricopa County grand jury indicted her for conspiring to murder her fourth husband, Charles Vallow. According to police reports, Alex Cox, Daybell's brother, shot and killed Charles Vallow in Chandler on July 11, 2019. Additionally, a second Arizona indictment unsealed in May of this year charged Daybell with conspiring to murder Brandon Boudreaux, her niece's ex-husband. Allegedly, Cox shot at Boudreaux in Gilbert on October 2, 2019, but failed to hit him. Cox, who was never charged, died later that year due to what authorities deemed natural causes.

Even though Daybell is already serving multiple life sentences in Idaho, Maricopa County is pressing forward with their cases against her. Mitchell justified this move by stating that it is a matter of securing justice for Daybell's purported victims in Arizona. "If you're the loved one of the victims here or you're the victim here… you're entitled to justice, as well. And so we're going to make sure that that is done in these cases," Mitchell said.

As Daybell's legal journey proceeds, it's becoming evident that she will continue to be subjected to the full force of the law. Despite the multitude of charges already levied against her, the push for justice for her alleged victims remains relentless. Daybell's return to Arizona is a significant step forward in ensuring all the affected parties receive the justice they are due. The result of these additional trials may further seal her fate, cementing her infamous status in the annals of crime history.

  • Listen To Lori Vallow Daybell's Delusional Rant At Sentencing
In an astonishing episode of the popular podcast "Murder In the Morning" hosted by Tony Brueski and Stacy Cole, they dissect the chilling and delusional claims of Lori Vallow Daybell, who is currently under trial for the murder of her children. Daybell asserts her innocence, alleging she communicates with her deceased children and possesses knowledge of the afterlife.

In this episode, Daybell's perplexing court statements were replayed, in which she quoted the New Testament to defend her actions and call into question the judgment passed on her by others. As she declared, "Jesus knows me and Jesus understands me. I mourn with all of you who mourn my children, and to me, Jesus Christ knows the truth of what happened here."

Daybell further explained that she believes no murders occurred, attributing the deaths in her life to accidents, suicides, and medication side effects. An incredulous Brueski responded to her claims, "That's not remotely real." He and Cole struggled to comprehend Daybell's version of events, which they described as "delusional."

Her claims go beyond merely disputing the cause of death. Daybell narrates a vivid experience of having died and visited heaven during labor in 2002, where she met her deceased sister, Stacy. This incident, she alleges, gave her access to the spirit world, allowing her to communicate with her dead children and others.

"She thinks all this shit's real," remarked Cole, expressing disbelief at Daybell's claims of ongoing contact with deceased individuals. According to Daybell, these spirits include her children Tylee Ashland and Joshua Jackson, her friend Tammy Debell – the ex-wife of her husband who was also mysteriously murdered – and other relatives.

"She thinks that she launched these people into a better life, that she's somehow this martyr that she did something great for people that they weren't able to do for themselves," Cole expressed, summarizing Daybell's disturbing perspective. The hosts questioned the mental health of Daybell, referring to her diagnosis of "hyper religiosity with narcissistic features."

Daybell's narrative included graphic descriptions of her daughter, Tylee's, suffering, stating that she had been sexually abused and suffered from a painful health condition. She presented herself as a loving, protective mother despite the accusations against her for murdering her children.

Most shockingly, she claimed her children's spirits visited her after their deaths, assuring her that she hadn't done anything wrong. According to Daybell, Tylee commanded her to stop worrying while Joshua Jackson put his arm around her, expressing his love.

The podcast hosts found these claims deeply disturbing and frightening. Cole expressed concern about Daybell's mental state and the risk she poses to other inmates, deeming her unfit for normal prison conditions. "Even prisoners should not be upset, subjected [to her]," Cole stated.

The hosts concluded that despite Daybell's firm belief in her divine path, her destination might be quite different from the heaven she so vividly described. Brueski concluded, "This whole thing is just frightening and it terrifies me. I don't want her by any other inmates because she is not mentally sound. There's something so terribly wrong with how she thinks."

  • Did Lori Vallow Daybell Brainwash Her Attorney?
In an intriguing episode of the popular podcast "Murder in the Morning," hosts Tony Brueski and Stacy Cole discussed the personal plea made by Lori Vallow Daybell's attorney in court. Vallow Daybell, convicted for the murder of her children, has been a focal point in the podcast's recent episodes. Her attorney's emotional plea has sparked a flurry of reactions and heated debates about the case.

The hosts highlighted the attorney's passionate plea for leniency and understanding for his client, referring to her as "very misunderstood". The attorney drew on his past as a prosecutor and his personal relationship with Vallow Daybell to paint a picture of her that contradicted the damning public image. He emphasized the importance of peace, love, and hope in the aftermath of the trial, implying that society should move toward forgiveness and healing.

The hosts, however, were not convinced. Brueski stated, "Look what she did. She made a freaking plan and carried out that plan to kill her children. And I'm getting really worked up. I'm sorry." His co-host, Cole, echoed his sentiments, calling Vallow Daybell "the most hated woman in America right now, and maybe in the world pretty close."

Despite the attorney's appeal, the hosts questioned whether Vallow Daybell truly embodied the principles of peace and love, or if she merely manipulated those around her. "This woman was able to pull the wool over so many people's eyes for so long. I think she did it with her attorneys. If this is the statement that they're making, she's about love," said Brueski.

The attorney urged the court to give Vallow Daybell a 20-year fixed term with an indeterminate term of life, arguing that it would meet all the goals of sentencing with an added bonus of hope. His argument was that granting her hope would not be a reward but a benefit to society at large.

In response, Brueski retorted, "Why would anyone wanna have hope for Lori Vallow Daybell? She's proven time and time again you can't trust her. She's an evil, horrible human being." Cole echoed his sentiment, indicating that the attorney was defending Vallow Daybell "beyond being the defense attorney", and there were no excuses for her actions.

While the attorney’s plea for Vallow Daybell has stirred up controversy, it also underscores the power of public sentiment in high-profile cases. Despite the attorney’s best efforts, the hosts and many listeners could not reconcile the image of Vallow Daybell as a loving, misunderstood woman with the undeniable evidence of her horrifying crimes. The case continues to captivate public attention, and this podcast episode has brought fresh perspectives and insights into the troubling saga of Lori Vallow Daybell.

  • Lori Vallow Daybell, When Cults & Parenting Don't Mix
In a recent episode of the "Hidden Killers" podcast, Tony Brueski hosted a thought-provoking discussion with former Federal Prosecutor and attorney Eric Faddis about the contentious Lori Vallow case. Vallow, convicted for the deaths of her children, has a sentencing process that raised critical questions about the intersection of religion, law, and child safety.

Faddis, a legal expert, was asked to ponder over the question of whether Vallow's religious beliefs should play a part in her sentencing process. In his words, "a person's religion typically should not have bearing on what sentence they receive." He added that it's a complex issue in Vallow's case, as her religious convictions were notably entwined with her actions. However, he noted that the defense might argue mitigating circumstances, such as Vallow's mental health issues, being brainwashed or coerced by religious dogma, rather than the court penalizing her based on her spiritual beliefs.

Brueski also explored how religious belief can sometimes place children in dangerous situations, as he mused, "There's obviously plenty of examples, and that's the majority, very peaceful people who are not out using religion as justification for murdering their children...there are other versions of religion...that are not the greatest judge of characters and end up putting their children into very dangerous situations with dangerous people."

This segued into a deeper conversation about potential gaps in child protective services and how authorities often give parents the benefit of the doubt when it comes to religious beliefs, even when child safety may be at risk.

The conversation highlighted the classic tension between freedom and safety in society. Faddis highlighted past cases where parents had withheld medical care from sick children due to religious beliefs, resulting in tragic outcomes. He suggested there should be a line drawn when physical safety risk for a child arises, irrespective of religious considerations. "I think it is appropriate for the state to intervene and the parents can plead their case and plead their religion, in court," Faddis stated.

Both Brueski and Faddis lamented the missed opportunities for intervention in Vallow's case, despite the authorities having followed the rules and laws at that time. "There could have been intervening 50 different ways," Brueski said, adding, "is this something where the system really did fail these kids?"

Faddis agreed, saying, "I think there were failures in many respects, in this case." He cited the example of Lori Vallow's ex-husband, who, in a recorded interview, expressed his fear that she might harm someone. Sadly, his concerns weren't heeded, and he later turned up dead. This highlighted an urgent need for authorities to re-evaluate what tips are credible and actionable and when they should intervene for child safety, even if it means disturbing a personal home environment.

The discussion concluded with the hope that Vallow's case will be a case study for future improvements in child safety protocols where religion is involved. The dialogue underlined the necessity for legal and child protective authorities to scrutinize the potential for harm more critically and intervene proactively when religious freedom infringes upon a child's safety.
