In this week's episode, I am chatting to Hannah Whittaker who is a Pregnancy and Paediatric Dietician from Bump2Baby Nutrition about being pregnant when you are vegan or eat a plant-based diet. 

We also had an opportuinty to talk about  what happens and what to do if you suspect or discover that your child has a milk allergy. 

Whilst these two topics are completly unrelated, I wanted to pick Hannah's brains about her two specialities as it is so rare to hear about these issues that many families face. 

I felt it was particularly important when choosing to have a sovereign pregnancy, that I focus on niche subjects like these.

In this very special 100th episode, I am delighted to be chatting with fellow doula, author and antenatal educator Natalie Meddings. 

I was thrilled that she agreed to join me for a deep dive into the role of being a doula and educator, and we got into a discussion about how the maternity system has changed over the past two decades.

We voiced our concerns about how the medical model is so incredibly fear-based, but give solutions for how women and their partners can help themselves to ensure they don't get sucked into accepting unnecessary interventions.

We both feel that as pregnant women are living in a time where the system is so broken, it is wise for them to educate themselves about how to go back to basics and lean into the deep trust of their body. 

The foundation for preparing women is no longer about the way a baby navigates the pelvis, but much more about helping them to understand how to take their power back. 
To learn about what they are like as a person, in order to enable them to feel confident in taking complete responsibility for themselves and their baby - and have ownership of their birth.

In this week's episode, I am chatting with Rhea Dempsey who is an Australian doula, author, and birth educator. 

We had a great chat about our thoughts and beliefs on giving birth in the modern-day maternity system, and how 'thank goodness births' can usually be unravelled to reveal the cause - which Rhea shares is typically because of  'the fu*#!ing epidural'. 

This is such a wonderful conversation with Rhea, who is a real veteran in the birth world, and we can learn so much from the wise women who have supported so many families through the system over the decades. 

Her passion stems from her experience with fitness and diet before she ever became a birth worker, and she then became 'radicalised' by the births of her own children.

In this weeks episode, I am chatting with Magdalena Finn about the journey she went on when planning to give birth to her son. 

She candidly shares how she was able to break the generational trauma that her mother and grandmother experienced, which allowed her to have such a positive birth for both her and her son. 

In addition, we talked about how surprised she felt as her son grew, and she found some of the normal toddler behaviours really triggering for her - and what she was able to do about it, by re-parenting herself.

This has been pivotal in her life and she has a wide range of tools that she talks about to support her nervous system, which I am sure you will find helpful.

In this week's episode I am chatting with the inspirational Shellie Poulter, about how birth partners and doulas can support you alongside your care providers. She explains how to take into consideration your nervous system, and what might be going on inside you, as well as trying to make sense of care providers and their trauma responses.

Shellie's perspective is enlightening, and she offers great suggestions on how to ensure that anyone supporting you in labour can stay calm and relaxed and ask questions in an appropriate and effective manner where necessary.
