SO.... Forgive me, friends. This one got lost in the shuffle! We recorded at the very beginning of summer and I just forgot to send it to the editor. Here's a little teaser for the launch of season TWO - coming in the next couple of weeks!!
Thank you, Michèle Mani, for joining me on the podcast and engaging in this conversation about supervision and safe and effective use of self. It is really something not a lot of people talk about, yet it is a CRITICAL part of our profession. The idea of safe and effective use of self is one that many people maybe haven't heard of - and now will know more about! Thank you!
Here is how you can find Michèle and more about her:

When things don't make sense, we often look for "meaning" to cope or better understand the world around us. This episode, my amazing friend and psychologist, Dr. Paula Kline, joins me on the podcast to have DEEP conversation about meaning making. I'll admit, at first, I was both enamored and a little overwhelmed with the "bigness" of these hard questions we talk about during this episode. But by the end, I found myself being mind-blown about the simplicity, yet challenges, around meaning making in and out of the therapy room.
You will NOT want to miss out on this episode of #thingsyoulearnintherapy.
As always, thanks for tuning in folks!! Your support matters more than you know!

This episode was the most informative episodes I have done on the wellbeing of moms (and dads) around the childbirth period. If you've had a child, or are planning to have a child, this episode will bring to light SO.MANY.THINGS. Megan's expertise in issues around mental wellness and having babies was astounding. You will definitely learn something new, feel better about your childbirth/first year of newborn experience. I know I did! Like, listen and share! #thingsyoulearnintherapy #makewordsmatter

"Therapy doesn’t change the memory, rather it changes the way the memory is stored." YES! I am so thankful for my guest this week, Dr. Jen Blanchette, and her expertise in EMDR. But I was also enamored with her integration of whole-body wellness and how she uses that in the therapy room. This episode is FULL of so many #thingsyoulearnintherapy!

Ever made negative comments about yourself or thought you were a terrible person after making a simple (or not so simple) mistake?? This episode is an AMAZING reminder of how to show self-compassion - in the same light that we give compassion to other people. My guest, Nicole McNelis, shared some really helpful tips that you can use today!

She is a mom to two of the most energetic, curious, and full-of-life little boys. Nicole’s therapy practice focuses on the needs of women, moms, and mom-to-be. Her practice is woman-centered and creates space for women to explore their own unique and important challenges. Nicole has been featured as a mental health expert in print publications, online media, books, and podcasts. She uses a blend of candor, humor, and deep authenticity to fully engage her audience. Passionate about supporting women through life transitions both big and small, Nicole helps women move through the overwhelm and exhaustion of juggling it all – all the time.

In relationships, communication is EVERYTHING. This episode, communication guru, Jacque Tyrrell shares VERY practical strategies for how to communicate well - including arguing well! She has acronyms and "playlists" and references to football that will keep you engaged and able to remember her tips during your next conflict. This episode has so many #thingsyoulearnintherapy
Here's a bit more about Jacque:
I am a licensed social worker and I am skilled in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), coaching, communication skills, and mindset. I really enjoy teaching the "why" and "how" of things and have a knack for using relatable similes and metaphors. Overall, I have 10 years combined experience working within the human service field as an agent of change, serving youths and their families as an advocate, mentor, and coach. As a change agent, I have worked as a behavior interventionist and skill builder with at-risk youth, a case manager of teens with disabilities preparing them for life after school, a resource broker for families and communities, and three years so far as a practicing therapist. I am honored to have been apart of so many journeys and I hope to keep seeing the awesome work people put into themselves and others!
