Welcome to episode #609 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast.
Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast - Episode #609 - Host: Mitch Joel. She has become the go-to person when it comes to creating brands that truly work. Denise Lee Yohn is not slowing down. Her latest business book, Fusion - How integrating brand and culture powers the world's greatest companies, was just published, and it follows her work on what it takes to not only stand out, but constantly deliver a great brand experience for customers. When it comes to brands doing things right - constantly and consistently - I always think of the work that Denise Lee Yohn is doing. From her first book, What Great Brands Do - The Seven Brand-Building Principles That Separate The Best From The Rest to the article she authored for the Harvard Business Review titled, Start-Ups Need a Minimum Viable Brand, then came Extraordinary Experiences, that profiled seven popular, powerful retail and restaurant brands, she is a brand juggernaut. The former Sony Electronics executive and advertising agency professional (who worked on Burger King, Land Rover and Unilever) is back to show you why brand and culture should never be separate in your organization... ever! Enjoy the conversation...

Welcome to episode #608 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast.
Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast - Episode #608 - Host: Mitch Joel. Even when he takes a pop at me (which he does... and it's probably not all that lovingly), I really enjoy my conversations and debates with Andrew Keen. It used to be a lot easier to call him a contrarian to everything that was happening in Silicon Valley. After all, his bestselling books, The Cult of the Amateur, Digital Vertigo and The Internet Is Not The Answer earned him the dubious title of "the anti-Christ of Silicon Valley." His latest book, How To Fix The Future, is still controversial but it's more optimistic (if we do something with the contents of it) about how this might all play out. Sure, Andrew is happy to take a victory lap, by pointing out how right he was in his previous books... but here we are. How does technology our culture and digital media push forward with so much creative destruction and the problems that have arisen as we all connect? Andrew is executive director of the Silicon Valley innovation salon FutureCast and a public speaker. He is the host of Keen On show, a TechCrunch chat show, and was named one of the "100 Most Connected Men" in 2015 by GQ magazine. Enjoy the conversation...

Welcome to episode #607 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast.
Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast - Episode #607 - Host: Mitch Joel. How do real people succeed in the real world of work? That's the question bestselling author Joanna Barsh set out to answer in her latest book, Grow Wherever You Work. How did she find the answer? Not by asking motivational types or the well-established CEOs, but by diving into the trenches with today's boldest, brightest, up-and-coming leaders (some were... millennials!!... gasp!). Distilling the stories of important work challenges from more than 200 rising leaders in 120 companies, her new book can help anyone grow and learn through the challenges that we all face--not despite them. Why Joanna? Prior to retiring, she joined McKinsey & Company in 1981 and was a senior partner. Along with her consulting work, she lead the McKinsey Centered Leadership Project, whose goal was to help develop women leaders. Joanna is a New York City Commissioner of Women's Issues and received the Girl Scouts Council Woman of Distinction Award and the National Council of Research on Women Award. Joanna is also a trustee of Sesame Workshop. She was a Baker Scholar at Harvard Business School and is also the author of Centered Leadership and How Remarkable Women Lead. Enjoy the conversation...

Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast - Episode #606 - Host: Mitch Joel. Everywhere I look, I see the book Superconnector. Online, in bookstores at the airport. What kind of connector would I be without trying to pin down the bestselling book's author, Scott Gerber? Scott Gerber is CEO of The Community Company, an organization that builds and manages community-driven programs for media companies and global brands. He is also the founder of YEC, an invitation-only organization comprised of the world's most successful young entrepreneurs, and the co-author of Superconnector. He also wrote the book, Never Get a "Real" Job a few years back. Scott believes that we should never diminish the power of our social capital, and we should be constantly making deposits to ensure that the account keeps growing. How do you find purpose and value in your connections, in your network and in networking? Listen on. Enjoy the conversation...

Welcome to episode #605 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast.
Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast - Episode #605 - Host: Mitch Joel. His book is easily one of the best books that I have read in a very long time. The concept of negotiating has been a hot topic for authors and business speakers for a very long time. Still, Chris Voss is truly brilliant and his book, Never Split The Difference - Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It, is just chock full of genius from start to finish. Chris was the lead international kidnapping negotiator for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as the FBI's hostage negotiation representative for the National Security Council's Hostage Working Group. Prior to becoming the FBI lead international kidnapping negotiator, Christopher served as the lead Crisis Negotiator for the New York City Division of the FBI. Christopher was a member of the New York City Joint Terrorist Task Force for 14 years. During Chris's 24 year tenure in the Bureau, he was trained in the art of negotiation by not only the FBI but Scotland Yard and Harvard Law School. He is also a recipient of the Attorney General's Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement and the FBI Agents Association Award for Distinguished and Exemplary Service. Chris currently teaches business negotiation in the MBA program as an adjunct professor at University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business and at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. So, yeah, he knows a thing or two (or a million) about how to get things done. It's been a while since I was this nervous to speak with a book author (because I admire his work so much). Enjoy the conversation...
