Rich sits down with Mikey Taylor- Serial entrepreneur and former professional skateboarder. Mikey Taylor is the President and Managing Principal of Commune Capital, a private equity firm that invests in commercial real estate. After a successful 14 year skateboarding career, Mikey began the transition into entrepreneurship and business building, when he recognized an opportunity in the emerging craft beer industry. He utilized his marketing experience from skateboarding to co-found Saint Archer Brewery. 

Rich and Mikey discuss what it was like growing up skateboarding and going pro, his experience starting Saint Archer Brewing, and some key takeaways on building a successful business. Mikey also shares a hilarious story of a recent viral video with 2 skateboarders bringing their concerns to him at a City Council Meeting. 

Rich and Mikey then talk about his pivot into commercial real estate investing, raising money for funds vs. syndications, self-storage, multifamily and ground-up development. They dive into how Mikey built his business, Commune Capital, strategies with investors, and some of the biggest risks he faces with his projects. 

Mikey also shares what he’s most excited for in 2023 and his biggest motivation for getting out of bed in the mornings.
