    Stevon Lewis is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, speaker, and corporate consultant. In his private practice, he specializes in working with adults struggling with impostor syndrome.

    He has been a featured expert for various major television and media platforms, including the Oprah Winfrey Network, Bustle Magazine, Thrive Global, and Entrepreneur Magazine.

    As a corporate consultant, he has facilitated discussions about race in the workplace for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) and Tory Burch.

    In addition, he has hosted a series of workshops for A New Direction, a London-based non-profit, that provides support and development to individuals that are underrepresented in the creative and digital industries.

    In this episode, we discuss the connection between imposter syndrome and race, the importance of reflecting on one's role in systems of oppression and privilege, finding the right therapist, representation, and more.

  • 108: Six Types of Boundaries - with Amanda E. White, Licensed Therapist & Founder of Therapy for Women Center

    Amanda E. White is a licensed therapist and the creator of the popular Instagram account @therapyforwomen. She specializes in teaching women how to set boundaries, engage in real self-care, and work through shame. 

    Amanda is the founder of "Therapy for Women Center" located in Philadelphia and serving clients across the country. She is in recovery from an addiction and eating disorder, and in her clinical work, Amanda specializes in supporting clients in the overlap and intersection of both. 

    In addition, Amanda is the author of the forthcoming book, “Not Drinking Tonight: A Therapist’s Guide to Creating A Sober Life You Love.” Amanda is also an experienced registered yoga teacher and leads yoga and mental health retreats around the world. 

    In this episode, Amanda explains and dives deep into six different types of boundaries. We also touch on loose vs. rigid boundaries, boundary negotiation, the importance of reflecting on your values, setting boundaries with yourself, people pleasing, and more.

    Kim is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Commonwealth of Virginia with over a decade of experience working alongside at promise youth, families, and communities.

    Kim is deeply committed to cross sector collaboration that utilizes an asset based approach to develop strategies which promote community driven solutions to system created problems.

    Kim has experience in providing direct clinical services to youth and adults in psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment and community based settings.

    Kim specializes in working with cross systems involved youth and young adults, who have experienced and participated in acts of community violence.

    In 2019, Kim made the shift upstream and stepped away from direct service to begin working on programmatic, organizational and system changes.

    Kim is on a mission to eliminate suffering for black youth, by fighting to eliminate barriers to dreaming, increase youth visibility, and create pathways to opportunities. Kim believes that relationships heal and there is power in empathy, compassion, and kindness.

  • 105: Making Friends With Anxiety - with Tim Box, Remedial Hypnotist & Mind Management Expert

    Tim Box DipCAH, HPD, FMAHA, MNCH (reg) is a remedial hypnotist and mind management expert who has successfully run a flourishing full time therapeutic practice for the last eight years, as well as being an associate of one of the top practices in London's Harley Street for three years.

    After escaping the family plumbing business in 2009, Tim trained in hypnosis at the world renowned Hypnoarts Academy by Jonathan Chase. Tim went on in 2014 to become one of only a handful of people in the world to be awarded a fellowship of the academy, as well as eventually becoming one of their senior trainers.

    In 2015 Tim created his CONTROL system based on his experiences with clients and the learnings from thousands of 1 to 1 sessions.

    Tim now teaches his method throughout the world and has qualified more than 50 CONTROL Practitioners in the UK, Europe and the United States.

    Laura Anderson is a Licensed Psychotherapist with a private practice in Nashville, TN and an Abuse and Trauma Resolution Coach for clients outside of Tennessee.

    Her primary clientele deal with complex trauma, including intimate partner violence, sexual abuse and assault and religious trauma.

    Laura is the co-founder of the Religious Trauma Institute and is a PhD Candidate; her research is in the experience of living in a healed body after sexual trauma.

    Laura is the author of two educational manuals: one on the topic of domestic violence and the other for clinicians and other healers regarding religious trauma, including how to work with clients who are hoping to heal from religious abuse and trauma.

    When she’s not working or writing her dissertation, Laura enjoys spending time with her dog, Phoebe, hiking, being outdoors and spending time with her friends.

  • 101: Normalizing Conversations on Mental Health - with Dr. Shaun Fletcher, Assistant Professor of Public Relations & Sport Communication

    Dr. Shaun Fletcher is an Assistant Professor of Public Relations and Sport Communication at San José State University in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

    He also serves on the Advisory Board for The Institute for the Study of Sport, Society and Social Change at SJSU, as well as the board chair member on Diversity and Inclusion for the Public Relations Society of America - Silicon Valley.

    Prior to joining San José State, Shaun served as the Manager of Internal Communications at Apple for the Retail Learning and Development organization. In this role, he provided overall strategic communications and marketing plan development, connecting the departments mission to its 65,000+ retail employees globally.

    Dr. Fletcher concurrently served as a consultant and mentor to Apple’s multimillion dollar partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, bringing students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) to Apple for an immersive apprenticeship experience.

    He also spent several years leading internal communications for Volkswagen Group of America and also established a professional development consultancy, where he works to train and develop current and aspiring leaders for culturally competent and gratifying service.

    In the aftermath of a widely acclaimed and thought provoking TEDx Talk on mental health in the Black community, Dr. Fletcher has been a regular keynote speaker and advocate for shifting the perception of mental health in communities of color, being featured in the New York Times, Washington Post and Black Enterprise.

    Dr. Fletcher earned his Doctorate in Intercultural Communication from Howard University, a Master of Arts in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Central Florida, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from San José State University.

    In this episode, we discuss the importance of normalizing conversations on mental health, more on Black mental health, taking care of all aspects of one's health (emotional, physical, mental), self-compassion, social change, and more.
