As humans we can ALL come up with excuses for not doing something. I don’t have time to exercise. I don’t know how to cook so I eat out every night. No one is hiring so I’m stuck in this dead end job. Sound familiar?

In the end, whether we’re thinking of the excuses we make to ourselves or that the men in your life make, excuses are just another way to avoid being vulnerable. Vulnerability is scary, especially when you talk about committing to a partner. Vulnerability is linked with intimacy and the giving of yourself – or showing your true self – to another person. To be vulnerable means having trust in the other person.
