Often our twenties don’t work out exactly the way we planned. We graduate and don’t get the dream job, we experience breakups, rejection, grief and uncertainty and we aren’t taught how to deal with any of these things or the inevitable way they affect our mental health.

Mena Kezia Emuh experienced this herself,  and at the age of 27 reached a breaking point that ultimately led her to create her community of @thel8bloomers. She bravely decided to speak out about her mental health and from there she has become a spokesperson for people who feel left behind, dedicating her time to a platform for millennials navigating the complexities of adulting in the 21st Century. In this episode, Mena shares her personal story with me and we have an authentic and vulnerable conversation about timelines, the pressure to be ‘normal’, religious and cultural expectations and why it is so important to speak out about mental health.
