  • EP47: Paul's Story - Depression And 3 Suicide Attempts

    Send us Fan Mail

TRIGGER / CONTENT WARNING: Discussion includes suicide attempts.
Paul was clinically depressed from a very early age. He wasn't diagnosed, and wishes he was. All he thought he knew then, was that he couldn't stand the pain, the sadness, and the not belonging. After his third failed suicide attempt and still a young man, Paul was sectioned (psych ward). It was that experience that jump-started Paul's new chapter and desire to understand who he really was and how to start living without his mental struggles. In this tragic, yet often funny, rollercoaster of an episode, we hear how Paul recovered from decades of trauma and how he started to heal.

  • EP46.1: Stephanie's Story BONUS After Thoughts

    Send us Fan Mail

TRIGGER WARNING: Bullying and Domestic Abuse, listener discretion advised.
Luke and Kyle discuss the vulnerability of kids and how easily their minds can be affected by words, as well as actions. We have all been in the path of bullying, maybe indirectly, and it's not just a cause of immediate pain and suffering, but also a cause of long term mental health issues. Steph was strong and made it though, but others aren't so lucky.  Her story was amazing.

  • EP46: Stephanie's Story - Healing From The Trauma Of Being Bullied

    Send us Fan Mail

TRIGGER WARNING: Bullying and Domestic Abuse, listener discretion advised.
At just 7 years old, Steph was dealing with her parents divorce, and an identity crisis. She wanted to be herself, an individual, to dress how she wanted, to be a tomboy, and to be free,. But, even at such a tender age, she was faced with objection and ridicule at what she looked like and how she behaved. Over the years, Steph lost sight of her true self. She conformed to the 'normal' and began being someone that was solely focused on fitting in and pleasing others. Finally, after realizing she was miserable, she began to heal the traumas of her past and take back confidence and self belief once more.

Luke and Kyle get existential, as we recap the rollercoaster of the previous episode, Ben's Story. Having to deal with a child's death, and then losing custody of your three foster children, and then losing your job.. and still keep your faith, is quite extraordinary.  Respect and high fives to you Ben.

  • EP45: Ben's Story - Traumatic Loss And Keeping The Faith

    Send us Fan Mail

Sorry, this one is heart-wrenching,  but its an important episode to share. Ben ran a youth group, fresh out of college, and formed some amazing bonds with some amazing kids. One day Ben received news that the one of the kids that he was close with, had died in a BMX accident.  More trauma was to come for Ben and his wife, when they found out that the three small children they had been fostering for years, had been approved to return to their biological parents, just moments before the adoption was being finalized. He recounts their last Christmas as a family, knowing this would be the last time he would ever see them, and the renewed feelings of loss and abandonment. Through further rejection, job loss, and financial hardship, Ben never gave up, kept his faith, and trusted the process. It's a wonderful and emotional episode.

  • EP44.1: Melanie's Story - BONUS After Thoughts

Kyle gets quite worked up in this After thoughts section, about why men have to give us such a bad name. All joking aside, the trauma we just heard about in Melanie's story, what she went through with both her supposed step dads growing up, and then her partners, with repeat toxic behavior, Its a wonder she even wanted to chat to us! We are glad she did!

  • Melanie's Story - Toxicity, Red Flags And Knives

    Send us Fan Mail

Melanie had lived with six 'step dads' by the time she was 16 years old. Several were abusive, and when she was old enough, she finally escaped the nightmare. Amazingly though, that wasn't the end of toxic relationships for Melanie. In this fired up and passionate episode, Melanie looks back and just cannot believe she continued the cycle of toxicity, by inviting mean, narcissistic and manipulative men into her life.  She describes the moment she realized she was worth more, and chose a different path for her future. A path of hope, light, and freedom.

  • EP43: Leslie's Story - Bad Things Come In Threes

    Send us Fan Mail

Leslie takes us through three events that happened over a short period of time, that really tested her will to survive. The first was when she was raped while serving in the US Navy, the second not long after was the sudden death of her sister at 37 years old, and the third was the birth of her son that resulted in an emergency c-section and nearly killed her. A candid, raw, and honest episode about the power to overcome trauma and the strength to bounce back. Amazing!
