What Is a Set Point Weight? [and How to Find Yours!]

Listen Later

Are you ready to stop micromanaging your weight? Are you ready to get off the dieting merry-go-round which, let's be honest, is not as enjoyable as the ones that we rode on when we were kids? Are you ready to finally learn how to listen to your body and become an intuitive eater?

If you are nodding your head yes to these questions, I am hosting a free (yes, you read that right – free!) five-day find your set point weight challenge from June 6, 2021 to June 10, 2021, a totally free challenge hosted by The SociEATy. This five-day challenge which is open to the public will guide you through five days of exercises (and no, that won't include jumping jacks, I promise!), giving you tips to implement so that you can find your set point weight!

Now you might be wondering, what even is a set point weight? Well, your set point weight is the weight at which your body wants to be, where it functions optimally and feels its best. Weight loss, weight maintenance, and weight gain all usually happen when we work toward finding our set point weights, so it's not a weight loss challenge! It is a challenge to find food freedom and body freedom so that you can finally become an intuitive eater! Be sure to sign up for the program which, again, is totally free! You can't beat that price, right?

As I said, three things tend to happen when we try to find our set point weight – we lose weight, we maintain weight, and/or we gain weight, and three separate interviews with fellow members of The SociEATy who have experienced all three are coming next week. As an introduction in the meantime, though, I share with you how to learn what your set point weight is and how to use that knowledge to move toward intuitive eating. Your set point weight is not a static number. It's more of a range, and not even that range is going to be exactly the same throughout the course of our lives. Factors that are out of our control such as our age, for example, are going to cause our set point ranges to change. The bad news is that it can be very difficult to determine what your set point weight is, but the good news is that there are some questions that you can ask yourself to determine whether or not you are there.

One last time, I strongly encourage you to sign up for the totally free five-day challenge (which, again, is not a weight loss challenge)! Please reach out to me with screenshots of you listening to the podcast and to let me know that you have signed up for the challenge! I would love to hear from you!
