Have you always struggled with weight loss have you considered how your relationship with food could be affecting that?
Today I talk to Claire Feldman, Claire is a psychotherapist who works with people who are looking to break the cycle of disordered eating and mend their relationship with food.
We talk about her own story and how she came to work in this area.
Hoe you can't look for weight loss and fix your disordered eating at the same time so you have to be willing to let that go in order to heal
How people often romanticise a certain weight and want to be that weight again but often don't remember how they got there
Building structure through balanced meals without prescribing a meal plan
How eating disorders can take up so much of someone's life and having empathy and compassion for themselves can help them move away from these behaviours
People often think that it's their lack of control over food and its often not that simple
That when it comes to before and after transformation shots but you never see a 6 month after shot
There's been a rise in eating disorders since the pandemic, specifically in college students
How over-exercise can be a sign of disordered eating
That our childhood experiences can affect how we see exercise but finding a way of moving your body that you enjoy is so important
If you are thinking that you may have some disordered eating habits get curious about where it is coming from and consider do you need to remove those influences from your life
Don't be afraid to reach out for help if this is something that you are struggling with disordered eating, there is a lot of shame associated with it but there is no shame in having an eating disorder.

What we covered in this webinar is how you utilise strength training and really make a difference to not only your horse riding but your life outside of riding too. Which is what you can achieve working with me on my Strong in the Saddle programme.

Is frustrated that your horse won't listen to you when in hand or in the saddle - and you feel like you are constantly arguing with your horse instead of working together.

I'm sure you've heard the term "eat less move more" well if it was that easy why do people still struggle with fat loss?
Today I talk to Andrew Neeson who is an online coach working in Belfast all about how there is more to it when it comes to fat loss
We talk about his own experience with disordered eating and he only really started to change after he did the precision nutrition course
How we often associate these things with women but it can be just a prevalent in men
How PTs who only show on social media "perfect" nutrition is part of the problem
Differences we notice between men and women
The fat loss shite we see on social media and how they play on people's insecurities
If you lock in the basics as unsexy as it is you will get the results you're looking for
That you might be more motivated if you actually enjoyed what you were doing
How we both hate running
Your weight doesn't dictate your progress
Destroying yourself and crawling out of the gym isn't a mark of a good session, it can actually be counterproductive
The main takeaway from this is that there is so much more to fitness and training than fat loss

Ok so it's whatever amount of weeks now until Xmas so that means we are going to see an influx of "little black dress" programmes flood the market
And before you sign up for these programmes there are a few things I wanted to talk about
I speak about how we learn nothing from these programmes
We need to stop taking on too much too soon
Fitness is a lifelong thing, not a 6-week block
Do you have a time issue or s schedule issue
Moving away from Aesthetics being the only goal
Not expecting everything over night
Being ready to make this part of your life and not just something you do for an event
These are things that I see happen time and time again and various points of the year so I hope you all take something from this episode and try a different approach this time

So you've probably heard me go on about strength and conditioning work for horse riders but I am not the only one talking about it
Today I speak with James Crichton (or Crabby) all about strength and conditioning for equestrians
Crabby is a strength and conditioning coach who works with athletes in several different sports. He kind of accidentally started working with horse riders due to a connection through his sister and because of this he recently launched an online programme for equestrians.
We talk about the benefits of strength training for horse riders and how the sport is quite behind compared to other sports in this area of training.
How pogo and jumping work is not just for your horse.
Creating a buy-in when working with clients.
Common issues we see with horse riders (back pain am I right?)
How online works better when it comes to equestrians as their schedules are so hectic and can change at a moments notice
We also have a little rant about how the trainers who sell the most aren't always the best but just the loudest.
This is a great episode for horse riders who still aren't sure if they should start some form of gym-based training to help improve their riding so I highly recommend giving it a listen.

They are online magazines that are dedicated to getting coverage for the grassroots community in equestrian sports (Grassroots gazette) and for women in the equestrian industry (Equitas)
Today I talk to Shane McCarthy who is the CEO of both magazines.
We talk about where the idea for both magazines came from.
Creating the fastest growing online equestrian media brand in Ireland and the UK.
How coverage for the most significant areas of the Equestrian industry is often forgotten and how the team at these magazines are changing that.
Always learning and being able to admit when you get something wrong.
Keeping up with social media trends and how you can utilise them.
We also got some exclusives that haven't even been released to the public yet!
This episode had so much in it. Its hard to summarise and Shane spoke openly about his own journey, where he went wrong and how he learned from it all, it is a great episode for anyone who wants to start their own business and full of value.

September 27, 2022 #106 Sometimes you just need to take a break
Do you ever feel like the joy is gone from what you are doing?
But you keep doing it because you feel like its what you "should" do
Or maybe you think if you stop, you'll never start again?
For me, it was for content creation but I see this with people on their fitness journey all the time
It turns something that should be enjoyable into something that becomes a chore
So how can you make sure you get back to it, this is what I talked about today
I spoke about setting a date to return what you are taking a break from
How you need to manage your expectations coming back - break it down and gradually build back up to where you were before
Don't be afraid to address these feelings when they come up
Taking a break doesn't make you a failure, it can be hard to admit it but sometimes talking it through with a friend or partner can really help you
You may find that they are feeling the same!
This was my first time recording in two months so it was short and sweet and a lil messy but I hope you all enjoy it!

Traditionally when it comes to horse riding the way we improve is by practising on the horse
But what if there was another way that you could do this?
Horse riders are a bit behind other sports when it comes to utilising strength training
But it can make a huge difference to your riding, working around the yard and general fitness
What's more, is that you don't need to spend hours in the gym to see the benefits
Some of these benefits include
More stamina while riding
More balanced riding
Improved posture
Strengthen weaker muscles
Better protection of joints
Recovery from injuries old or new
All of these can be done at home or in a gym so if it is something that you have been thinking about for a while, now it's your time to do it! Remember this isn't going to just benefit you, it will also be good for your horse because they can feel any of these imbalances and will compensate for them too!
