They discuss the importance of having fun in your business and personal life. Whitney introduces Allison as someone who brings fun and excitement to her work and always puts her family first. They explore the idea of integrating fun into one's work and lifestyle.

Making Values a Part of Your Lifestyle

Allison Puryear is known for making her values a part of her lifestyle. She emphasizes the importance of not getting too wrapped up in work and neglecting other areas of life. Whitney acknowledges the tendency to focus solely on work, which can lead to a lack of passion and motivation. Allison's approach of prioritizing family and finding enjoyment in both work and personal life sets an example for others to follow. Whitney Owens states, "I think we can get so wrapped up in our work that we forget about that...we forget about having fun within our work."

Passion and Motivation

Allison Puryear's approach to integrating fun into her work is based on the belief that if you're not having fun, you're missing out on the true essence of your passion. Whitney shares a conversation with her mastermind group member, Uriah Guilford, who asks himself two important questions: "What could make this easier?" and "What could make it more fun?" These questions apply not only to business owners but also to individuals seeking a fulfilling and enjoyable life. Find aspects of your work that brings you joy. Why would you spend time doing things that make you feel bad? Whitney shares an example of finding fun and joy at work with planning the Wise Practice Summit. She emphasized that she finds it fun to connect with practice owners and create an environment where work and fun go hand in hand. She encourages listeners to prioritize fun in their businesses and consider attending the summit for a unique and enjoyable experience.

More about Alison - The Therapist and Practice Builder

Allison Puryear shares how she burnt out on agency work but went on to build a successful private practice in three different markets. After realizing that practice building is not rocket science, she founded the abundance practice building to help other therapists build fulfilling and prosperous private practices. Allison believes that a happy therapist is a better therapist, which aligns with her mission of promoting fun and happiness in the profession. Allison Puryear says, "I've rediscovered having fun as an adult and I am really kind of on a mission for helping people, particularly therapists, but really everybody, blend fun into their lives, into their businesses more."

Balancing Multiple Ventures

Allison Puryear's professional endeavors include owning a small group practice, managing the abundance practice building, launching a startup called Not Boring CEs, which offers interesting and engaging continuing education, and writing a book on the topic of fun. Despite having a lot on her plate, Allison emphasizes the importance of not saying yes to things she doesn't want to do. She has learned to overcome her people-pleasing tendencies and prioritize her own desires and well-being. By focusing on activities that bring her joy and fulfillment, Allison is able to manage multiple ventures while maintaining a sense of enjoyment and satisfaction. Allison explains, "It starts with not saying yes to anything that I don't wanna do, which has been a huge life lesson for me as a reforming people pleaser... I think about it as, 'What do I want to do? What brings me joy?'"
