China's gross domestic product expanded by 5 percent to 61.68 trillion yuan in the first half of 2024, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.

China's value-added industrial output, an important economic indicator, went up 6 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2024, said the bureau.

China's retail sales increased 3.7 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2024, the NBS said.
