China's Foreign Ministry denied on Thursday any ongoing negotiations between China and the United States over the tariff issue, reiterating that dialogue and negotiations on the issue must be based on equality, respect and mutual benefit.

中国外交部周四否认中美之间正在进行任何有关关税问题的谈判，并重申就该问题进行对话和谈判必须建立在平等、尊重和互利的基础上。

Guo Jiakun, a spokesman for the ministry, rejected reports from the US side that Beijing and Washington are in negotiations and will even reach a deal, calling such claims "fake news".

外交部发言人郭嘉昆驳斥了美方关于中美正在进行谈判甚至将达成协议的报道，称此类说法是“假新闻”。

"As far as I know, China and the US have not held consultations or negotiations on the tariff issue, let alone reached any agreement," Guo told a daily news conference.

郭嘉昆在每日例行记者会上表示：“据我所知，中美双方尚未就关税问题进行磋商或谈判，更遑论达成任何协议。”

The tariff war was initiated by the US, he said, stressing that China's position has been consistent and clear: "If it's to fight, we'll fight till the end. If it's to talk, our door is wide open."

他表示，关税战是由美国挑起的，并强调中方的立场是一贯明确的：“要打我们奉陪到底，要谈我们敞开大门。”
