This lovely episode was recorded OM Retreat! I'm joined by Graham, a dear friend, former colleague and Yoga student who just attended a weekend retreat with me.
We have fun reminiscing about my 'previous life' where I was very serious and my early, slightly depressing days of teaching where classes were pretty quiet, Graham's been there through it all!
Graham describes himself as a bit of a reluctant yogi, who booked the retreat with very little expectations (so it was easy for me to exceed them!) and about his key take aways from the weekend, how he can put what he learned into his day to day life, so the value of these retreats extend way into the week ahead.

In this meditation I explain the three different sounds of OM, sounds of suprise, understanding and contentment are all contained in this one little, yet universal sound.

I talk about my love of plants and what great gurus they make (basically anything I like I call my 'guru!')
Plants balance phases of expansion and growth with contraction. The ancient yogis knew the benefits of living in alignment of the seasons. Winter is a time of hibernation, a chance to review and reflect growth made this year, and sow seeds for the spring.

Learning to Do Your OM Thing in Yoga and life is what it's all about! It's a way of empowering students. A good teacher will act as your guide and give you space to make sense of postures in your body.
I talk about my journey to becoming a teacher, and the responsibility I have to teach my OM Thing. I make a call to action for other teachers to stand up, stop copying other people, find their own words and have the confidence to show their personality.

Ah this is such a lovely little episode where we learn about being the sweetness in our community. It's a reference to a story by Arun Ghandi, Mahatma Ghandi's grandson, who knew a thing or two about living a sweet life of compassion.
