A child's post on the Twitter account of the US Strategic Command has surprised many people on social media. The US Strategic Command keeps America's nuclear weapons safe.
When 13 unusual characters were posted to the Command's Twitter account on March 28, some people thought it might be a secret code, or perhaps even a password. Others thought the account might have been hacked.
Thirty minutes later, a second message apologized and asked people to ignore the first post. But this message didn't make what had happened any clearer.
Both messages were then deleted — but not before the first message had over 13,000 likes and was shared more than 9,000 times.
The Daily Dot contacted the US Strategic Command and learned that the Command's Twitter manager had stepped away from his computer for just a moment. But this was long enough for his "very young child" to play with the computer keyboard and accidentally post the message.
The US Strategic Command said there was "no hacking of our Twitter account."
Screenshots of the child's message have been shared on social media, along with many jokes about it. "I really hope it's a code from a cat at a keyboard," one user wrote.
