A dog has spent six days waiting outside a hospital in northern Turkey where her sick owner was receiving treatment.
Cemal Senturk was taken to a hospital in the city of Trabzon, Turkey, on January 14 with a brain problem. His pet, Boncuk, followed the ambulance there. According to DHA, she then made daily visits to the hospital.
Senturk’s daughter, Aynur Egeli, said she would take Boncuk home but the dog would repeatedly run off and return to the hospital by herself.
"She comes every day around 9 a.m.," a hospital security guard Muhammet Akdeniz told DHA. He said that the dog waits there until it gets dark, and while she doesn't enter the hospital, she does look in when the door opens.
Senturk got Boncuk nine years ago, and said he is very close with her. "She’s very used to me. And I miss her ... constantly," he told DHA.
Almost a week later, Boncuk was finally able to see Senturk when he was pushed outside in a wheelchair for a quick meeting with his dog. He was allowed to leave the hospital later that day, and he returned home with Boncuk after six days apart.
