A teenage boy and his father have invented a new video game console that they believe will change the way children play and learn. They call it the WOWCube: a digital Rubik's Cube for the 21st century.
Savva Osipov suggested the idea for the console in 2016, and his father Ilya Osipov designed it in spring of the following year.
The WOWCube looks similar to a Rubik's Cube. It has 6 sides, each with 4 screens that can be turned to play games and other programs.
The console does not have any buttons, and all of its programs, including games, puzzles and more, are controlled by moving the cube in different ways. Game characters and objects can run and move from one screen to another, so users don't just look at one side while they play.
At the moment, the WOWCube has about 20 games. But anyone will be able to create a game and add it to the WOWCube's Playstore, which other users can download and play.
And as well as games, the console can also stream apps from a smartphone, including weather, news or pictures from Instagram. Max Filin, co-founder of Cubios Inc., the company that produces the WOWCube, and the Osipovs have already won several science and technology prizes for the product. It is expected to cost $249 when it goes on sale, and can be reserved through the WOWCube Website.
