Google has released its list of top searches for 2020, and called it "the year we asked 'why?'"
In 2020, people used Google to ask "why" questions more than ever before. These questions included "Why is it called COVID-19?", "Why is mental health important?" and "Why is Mars red?"
 
Google says the world also searched "how to help" more than ever in 2020. The top "how to help" searches included "How to help during coronavirus" and "How to help Beirut," where a large explosion killed more than 200 people in August.
 
Google says people around the world also searched for "Black Lives Matter" five times more than they did in 2019.
 
The most googled word in the world was "coronavirus," with "election results" — referring to the US presidential election — coming second. The same two topics were at the top of the list in many countries, from the UK and Germany to Japan and South Korea.
