This episode is a BIG one! I sit with Dr. Tamara Rosier, ADHD expert and author, about her book, Your Brain's Not Broken: Strategies for Navigating Your Emotions and Life with ADHD. We talk about what is ADHD, the 'gap' between ADHD and our society, how ADHD isn't a strength or weakness but actually a cognitive difference, how dopamine impacts ADHD, nature as a regulating source for ADHD, the three types of ADHD (hyperactive, hypoactive, and combination), the impact of shaming from parts of ourselves and society, and how anxiety and avoidance can come from protector parts that are trying to manage ADHD. We get deep in this discussion as we share personal stories from my childhood and how ADHD impacts us both in past and present.
Dr. Tamara Rosier is founder of the ADHD Center of West Michigan, where she and her staff work with individuals with ADHD, and their families, to learn strategies and develop new skills to live effectively with ADHD. Dr. Rosier is also the president of the ADHD Coaches Organization and is the author of the book, Your Brain's Not Broken: Strategies for Navigating Your Emotions and Life with ADHD.
