  • Ep 53: How To Set Healthy Boundaries With Your Kids

    Send us Fan Mail

What are boundaries really? Because kids naturally don’t like rules, they will always try to break them, negotiate, not do it, … But I also didn’t want to force, push, or yell at my daughter if she said no or didn’t listen.

Because I didn’t want her to grow up into being me: the one who always listened and never said no out of fear, and ended up becoming a resentful people-pleaser, walking on eggshells not to make mommy mad = afraid of not being loved.

So is it even possible to have rules and get them respected without yelling and all that drama around it?

I won’t sugar-coat it, this one took me a while to figure out because I didn’t have any healthy role models growing up.

So this is where I’m at with it right now, perfectly imperfect…

  • Ep 51: How To Heal Your Own Childhood Without Blaming Your Parents

    Send us Fan Mail

Maybe you were not lucky enough to have a happy childhood. And maybe you did!

Either way, if you can’t help it and end up yelling at your kids frequently, the chances are high that something happened very early on in your life and you never healed the pain. And that’s what keeps jumping out at your kids when they cross your boundaries now.

How to start healing your pain without blaming your parents for it?

And if you are already mad with them because it was clearly their “fault”, how could that resentment NOT stand in your way of healing?

Because if you’re looking around for advice on how to be a calm parent, it means you deeply care about your kids and their wellbeing. And you don’t want them to grow up feeling your anger was their fault.

That’s why this journey is worth it.

And that’s why the relationship with your parents (whatever that is right now) should not stop you.

    Let’s dive in…

  • Ep 50: How To Set Healthy Boundaries When Your Child Is Yelling At You

    Send us Fan Mail

No child is born mean or has the intention to hurt you. But what if they start yelling at you, and calling you the worst names because something you did or said made them mad?

How do you feel about them then? Hurt, not respected, angry?

Of course, it makes perfect sense. But once you calm down, you might regret some things you said in that heat of the moment. And even though you apologized, you feel ashamed it happened and you lost your calm.

If you know exactly what I’m talking about, then let’s dive in deeper.

Because there’s a way how you can set healthy boundaries and stay calm, even when your child is yelling at you.

It’s not ok for them to hurt you verbally/emotionally (or in any way, really).

But I don’t have to tell you that punishing them by doing the exact same thing and hurting them back emotionally doesn’t really teach them anything about how to express their anger without hurting others.

  • Ep 47: Afraid of healing your past because it's painful? Do this...

    Send us Fan Mail

    Congratulations, supermom!

You already know that to stop yelling at your kids, parenting techniques won't help.

Because no matter how easy it would be to blame them for making you upset, exhausted, and out of patience, you know it has actually a lot to do with you.

So first of all, you're a great mom and I know you're doing your best.
And I know that for a fact because you're here, looking for help.

But there are just some things that do not work as another DIY for your smart brain. And healing your own childhood wounds and past pain that's really at the roots of your uncontrollable anger is one of them.

And what if you're scared of healing your past because:
    - either you tried in the past and it didn't work
    - or it made you feel even worse
    - or you've been avoiding even thinking about it your whole life because it's just too much?

Then this podcast episode is for you.

    Breathe in, breathe out.
    You're safe.

    Let's dip a toe together...

And then email "SLOW" to [email protected] if you want to check in together, slowly and carefully, if we could help you clean up your pain too...

2 weeks - that's how fast it takes on average for Zen Supermom clients to feel relieved, less angry, and more in control in stressful situations with their kids. But we can also go at your speed.
