自从中美网友开始对账后，大家才发现，原来事实的真相竟是这样。

今天分享一个美国网友自曝“美国梦”的骗局。

My Chinese friends, you have heard a lie.

我的中国朋友们，你们听到过一个谎言。

You cannot be a dishwasher.

你不可能成为一名洗碗工（靠这个职业达成特定目标）。

In other words, a person who washes dishes for a living and buy a house in the United States of America within three years.

换句话说，一个以洗碗为生的人不可能在美国三年内买得起房子。

That is American propaganda.

那是美国的宣传（不实言论）。

The average dishwasher in the United States of America makes $15 an hour.

美国普通的洗碗工每小时挣 15 美元。

Some more than that, some the less than that.

有些比那多一些，有些比那少一些。

More often than not, if you're making that little of money, majority of your expenses to just live is going to be paid for through your entire paycheck,

通常情况下，如果你挣那么少的钱，你仅仅维持生活的大部分开销就会花光你全部的工资。

meaning that you will have hardly any money to put back for buying a house.

这意味着你几乎没有钱可以存下来用来买房子。

This is impossible.

这是不可能的。

It's a lie.

这是一个谎言。

语法小贴士：

1.“a person who washes dishes for a living” 中 “who washes dishes for a living” 是一个定语从句，修饰先行词 “person”，“who” 作为关系代词在从句中作主语。

2.“More often than not” 是一个固定短语，意思是 “通常；多半”，在句子中作状语。

3.“if you're making that little of money, majority of your expenses to just live is going to be paid for through your entire paycheck” 中，“if” 引导条件状语从句；“majority of...” 表示 “大多数……”，当 “majority” 作主语时，谓语动词的单复数形式要根据 “of” 后面所接的名词来确定，这里 “expenses” 是复数，所以理论上谓语应该用复数形式，原句 “is” 表述有误，应为 “are” ；“to just live” 是动词不定式作后置定语修饰 “expenses” ；“be paid for” 是被动语态结构，表示 “被支付；花费” 。

4.“meaning that you will have hardly any money to put back for buying a house” 中 “meaning” 是现在分词作结果状语，“that” 引导宾语从句作 “meaning” 的宾语。
