In today’s show Claire shares the program she is building at Rogue to help women diagnosed with Parkinson’s with her recent Parkinson Foundation Community Grant. Women are considered an underserved population of folks with Parkinson’s. Fewer women are diagnosed with PD than men and historically research has focused on men with PD (specifically white men). Statistics also show in hetero couples that the divorce rate is higher when a woman has PD vs a man, there is less caregiving support, women tend to be more sensitive to medication and receive less guidance. Claire shares a lot of interesting facts about women with PD in the show as well as the plan for how to better serve them.
