This episode was shared with fellow podcaster Claire Marshall. We talked about ballet and soccer, two activities that were traumatic to us and we are still processing those experiences many years later. We talked about anthropology, the practice of mending clothes as a reflection of mending our world and the healing power of creative practice. We also talked about NYC and its contradictions, the future of non-profits and our experiences as podcasts hosts. Isolation may be one of the main features of our civilization today but, if we are going to stay here, this main feature will have to change. Claire is a young and empathic voice that holds space for the destructive and yet amazing place where we all live.
Claire Marshall is a digital marketing strategist and filmmaker based in Brooklyn. These days she has been mending clothes, rearranging apartments, witnessing the phases of the moon, reading about the origins of our industrialized world and taking care of friends. Claire produces the CancerTalks Podcast and is currently working on a short film about the spiritual origins of settler colonialism.
This conversation marks the first time someone rejected one or two questions that I posed, and, while initially felt weird, I am now very grateful that it happened that way. You know, I have been thinking a lot about the intersection of art, creativity and healing and how we need to make space for things to transform, so choosing silence instead of words makes space for other voices to be heard and also space for the world we long for, to arrive on its own terms.
