Before Bendigo, Valeri was the head of strength and conditioning at Melbourne Hawthorn and Essendon FC as well as being part of China's physical preparation team for the 2012 London Olympics and 2014 China women's national basketball team. Before commencing his career in elite sport, Valeri was a professional handball player in Bulgaria.
