Caller Sam's question: I have been in recovery for the past 3.5 years. I am 41 with a wife and 5 kids. I was in a very dark place before finding recovery. One of the things that helped pull me from that dark place was hearing a podcast of someone who had a very similar story to mine and who had the courage to be honest and come forward to make changes in his life. I was serving as EQ President in my ward at that time while acting out regularly. So my question is this: how should I think about sharing my story and my recovery with others? I feel a strong desire to be able to help others who are stuck in addiction and looking for a way out. But I also feel a desire to protect my wife and kids from further pain and trauma. I would be curious to discuss this with you and get your thoughts. Thanks again.
