I have two special guests on today’s episode - second year PA student, Jess Moss and her service dog, Kenley. Jess was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when she was 9 years old. Kenley has been her service dog since Jess was in 12th grade. Now, Jess and Kenley are second year PA students on rotations.
Tune into today’s episode to learn more about life with a service dog and how Kenley assists Jess in her daily life. Jess and I discuss how she’s navigating PA school and rotations with Kenley. We also discuss best practices of treating patients with diabetes in different clinical scenarios.
Listen in to our conversation on how to advocate for ourselves as well as for our patients. As healthcare professionals, we should be on the forefront of raising awareness of the importance of understanding and accommodating different patients’ disabilities and needs.
