Want to hear the worst piece of business / marketing advice floating around right now?
“I try to keep business and personal totally separate. It isn’t professional to talk about myself as part of my business.”
Following this mindset leads to poorly branded interior design, staging, and workroom businesses. It leads to shallow marketing (or a gross lack of marketing since the business owner will often find herself at a loss for what to say next). A lack of personality in your business can even lead to sporadic clients or ho-hum projects.
Many of you have heard my personal stories before. Each story I tell has been able to resonate with customers across different countries, nationalities, and belief systems. It’s often the reason people initially contact me before ultimately becoming a customer. What I’m doing isn’t new or original. I’m just allowing my brand to be vivacious and engaging. The only way to do that is to put a human (me) on the front line.
You should be doing this, too. Vulnerability is scary, but so are lifeless businesses.
In this episode, I'm sharing why and how you can start sharing your stories, even if you don't think you have a story to tell.
