Today we’re talking to SHARON CALLISTER - she’s the CEO of Mission Australia.
Sharon is one of these rare humans that’s just born to help. Can’t stop her, won’t stop her.
Among the things she’s focusing on - is addressing the grim challenge of rising homelessness among women in Australia.
You might be confronted by some of the misconceptions about homelessness in Australia.
Sharon shares some pretty intense stories of people she’s worked with who have experienced homelessness and the challenges they face.
Helping an individual is important, however it’s treating a symptom not a cause, so Sharon has a lot to say about the need for investment in social and affordable housing and the power of early intervention.
We do talk about domestic and family violence and the role of education in changing attitudes and behaviours.
I know it sounds grim - but I promise you this is a conversation full of hope. Enjoy this chat with Sharon Callister.
