NA'ALEH YOGA: Nidra Journeys for Deep Rest+

This episode is part of the Jewish Calendar Series and is created for the month of Av.  This month focuses on rectifying the sense of hearing and invites you to descend into the healing darkness where you can listen deeply to connect with the resonance of your soul. 

Through practicing Yoga Nidra, you take a pause from all the sensory input channels except for sound so you can focus on the space within. This practice of Yoga Nidra guides you in the exploration of sound as you journey through the layers of consciousness from the body, breath, and mind to your deeper understanding and soul consciousness. Instead of a traditional verbal visualization, this practice contains a non-verbal sound visualization sequence to support deepest listening beyond that which words can express, while you are held in a state of relaxation. 

Please note that this practice may bring out unexpected emotions or memories. This is completely normal, and you are encouraged to welcome all that shows up with curiosity and compassionate witnessing. If this is not the right time for you to elicit emotions, then a milder practice may be better suited for the time being. 

Prepare for a transformative experience as you receive the gift of rest in the stillness of your soul. Allow your body and mind to relax deeply as you sail through sounds and silence and hear your soul's whispers.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Preparation: Begin by settling into a comfortable position. Make sure you’re fully supported completely at ease.

  • Intention Setting: You will be guided to set a powerful Sankalpa/kavanah (intention) for this practice. Choose a meaningful, positive "I am..." statement that resonates with your heart and soul, reflecting your life's orienting resolve and deepest truth.

  • Rotation of Consciousness: Experience a thorough body scan by listening to each part of your body as you transition into a state of deeper relaxation.

  • Breath Awareness: Practice guided breathwork to while focusing on the sound of your breath
  • Polarities: Train your mind to respond rather than react by practicing holding space for yourself as you hear sounds evoking opposite experiences. Observe how these opposite sounds affect your body.
  • Visualization: Experience a non-verbal sound healing visualization sequenced to move you into a deeper state of consciousness. 
  • Return to Your Intention: Reconnect with the intention you set earlier. Let it resonate deeply into your being.
  • Externalization: Gradually transition back to your ordinary waking state and integrate the practice
