In this episode, I’m joined with Dr. Cheney Daniel, a family chiropractor and doula who specializes in the pregnancy and pediatric population, to discuss what is and isn’t required during pregnancy and hospital births. There are often more choices than women are lead to believe.
We cover a wide range of topics including:
When to reach out to a doula
What the first visit with a doula looks like
What happens during a birth plan meeting
What might not be negotiable, especially in a hospital setting
Mother’s preferences on pain management, movement, lighting, monitoring, informed consent, pushing, and where and what position to birth
Delayed cord clamping
Cervical checks
Breaking waters
Birthing the placenta
Placenta encapsulation
C-Sections
Her experience with an epidural
What is needed after baby is born
Dr. Cheney Daniel is a family chiropractor specializing in the pregnancy and pediatric populations! She cares for women before, during, and after their pregnancy journeys & as well as specialize in seeing children 0-18! While Dr. Daniel’s chiropractic office is open to everyone, pediatrics and pregnancy are close to her heart. Along with chiropractic, Dr. Daniel is a labor & delivery doula, creating a space for women to feel empowered during the birth process and help facilitate a great birth experience. She believes the birth process can be whatever the mother wants and believes they can achieve the mother and partner’s goals for their experience together! Dr. Daniel is an active member of the ICPA, which is the International Chiropractic Pediatric association, The Georgia Birth Network, and she is certified in the Webster Technique. If Dr. Daniel is not working, you can find her walking the Beltline with her husband, Evan and their daughter, Wren, catching a pilates class, or wine tasting with her best friends!
