It was another emotional, and at times contentious day as the defense continues to call witnesses to the stand to prove Lindsay Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis when she killed her three young children. Clancy’s former mother-in-law took the stand and described what she witnessed from Lindsay in the months leading up to the murders, testifying she was begging for help and desperately wanted to get better. The prosecution pushed back, and at one point after asking Susan Clancy about her Catholic faith, asked if she realized that murder is considered a mortal sin. The judge told jurors to disregard the question, but the prosecution continued its argumentative questioning of several defense medical experts throughout the day.

As we record this episode, Florida state officials are in the final stages of preparing 61-Year-Old William Frances Silvia for execution. Silvia is set to die by lethal injection for the 2006 murder of his estranged wife, Patricia and the attempted murder of her mom. Silvia lost his job, his home, then decided to purchase a shotgun before heading to the home of his estranged wife’s mother to try and reconcile with her, ultimately shooting her mom first, then killing Patricia in front of her family. There are two more executions scheduled in Florida in the coming weeks, putting the state on pace to have another record breaking year in executions.

Here we go again, as we add another congressman to a growling list of lawmakers accused of inappropriate sexual conduct. This time, it’s Democrat Jimmy Gomez from California, and while he admits to having made “mistakes outside his marriage” he insists he did not violate house ethics rules. He says this because, the “mistakes” he’s referring to occurred with a House staffer, just not HIS staffer. It’s a loophole in the ethics rules, but the committee is looking into whether the incidents were consensual or unwelcome.

Georgia democrat Jon Ossoff made a comment that has set off a political firestorm, publicly mocking President Trump’s relationship with his executive assistant, Natalie Harp. Ossoff insinuated there was an inappropriate closeness between Harp and Trump, and his comments came on the heels of a new book by New York Times reporters who quoted sources saying Trump believes Harp loves him as much as his wife and kids. When CNN reporter Kristen Holmes asked Trump about Ossoff’s comments, it created another layer to the controversy, with Trump and administration officials publicly eviscerating the journalist as a “disgraceful, humiliating embarrassment.”

Opening statements and testimony began in the trial against Duane Davis, charged with the 1996 murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur. While prosectors acknowledge Davis was not the actual gunman, they claim he was the mastermind behind the murder and supplied the gun used to kill Shakur. The defense showed jurors a large slide with a single word on it: “Bullshit” and said their client was known for embellishing and lying about things. And that’s important, because it’s the only way for the defense to refute the prosecution’s evidence, which is Davis’ own repeated statements, confessions and written words about what happened that night on the Vegas Strip.

On Monday, the prosecution rested its case against the Massachusetts mom who killed her three young children with another digital forensics expert who testified to Lindsay Clancy’s last known resting heart rate, which was recorded at 57 around the time of the murders, suggesting she was calm. The defense began its case shortly afterwards, calling up a former co-worker who testified about what a caring and loving nurse Lindsay was to her patients, and then her sister and mother took the stand. They both described Lindsay’s unraveling demeanor starting in the months leading up to the killings, her mom saying she even warned her and the children’s father, Patrick, that she had thoughts of harming the children.

As our 60 day ceasefire with Iran officially expires today, President Trump is lashing out at our decades long ally, Oman. While Oman continues to help mediate negotiations between Iran and the U.S., it’s also discussed partnering with Iran to charge fees for ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. As you might imagine, that has angered Trump to the point of threatening Oman to stay out of the way…. or else. This sets up another possible “T.A.C.O. Tuesday” scenario, where online detractors continue to point out every time “Trump Always Chickens Out” on a threat he made, on Tuesday.

In an interview with Esquire magazine, Brad Pitt admitted that he is off the wagon after 7 years sober. The actor saying he can have a few drinks, and after a few “overconfident” incidents, has decided to continue drinking, but “not in big quantities.” Pitt’s admission has rekindled an ongoing debate among recovering alcoholics, with Alcoholics Anonymous maintaining that “no one who has become an alcoholic has ever ceased to be an alcoholic” while other organizations support a moderation management technique, similar to what Pitt describes.
