It’s been controversial since the beginning of time… should we switch to permanent daylight saving time?  Or is it better to continue to switch our clocks twice a year between standard time and daylight saving time?  The House has overwhelmingly voted in favor of making it permanent, the Senate looks like it’s going to disagree.  But there’s a third option no one is discussing, one that scientists believe is actually the better, healthier and more cost effective way to keep time.

Rabid fans have overreacted to what they deem as ‘bad behavior’ by Love Islander Zach Georgiou, effectively shutting down his TikTok account for part of the day on Tuesday. A group of fans banded together to falsely “report” Zach’s account, which spurred Season 8 winner, Trinity,  to publicly defend him, telling her followers to stop the hate and ignorant comments. A new article in Harper’s Bazaar may be fueling some of the controversy, pointing to what it calls the male misogyny on full display this season, naming specific male islanders and listing their grievances against the women of the villa.

The Washington Post is reporting that two sources have confirmed Federal and Michigan state officials are looking into whether Taco Bell restaurants played a role in the current Cyclospora outbreak that has now sickened as many as 7 thousand people across 34 states.  The epicenter of the outbreak is in Michigan, responsible for nearly half of the reported cases. In the Detroit area Taco Bell restaurants, signs are posted saying certain items are unavailable due to “a national recall.” While some have praised the restaurant for being proactive and voluntarily stopped serving lettuce, onions, cilantro, pico de gallo and guacamole, it’s paying the price, literally, with stocks plummeting nearly 5% in just one day.

We go in-depth into the latest information surrounding the mysterious death of a black college football player who went to an island off the coast of Mississippi to party with his white friends, and never came home. 18-year-old Nolan Wells’ body was found 2 days later in the waters near Horn Island, and while there is no suggestion of race being an issue in his death, it’s necessary to understand why his parents might not trust Mississippi authorities leading this investigation. The local sheriff immediately announced there was no foul play suspected and suggested it was an accidental drowning…. And while that may all be true, it’s important to recognize the suspicious events surrounding Nolan’s death and the notorious racial history of Mississippi.

Tonight, 74-year-old Dennis Sochor is set to die by lethal injection for the 1982 rape and murder of an 18-year-old girl he met on New Year’s Eve. Even though Sochor confessed to the crime, he never revealed where he left her body. To date, Patty Gifford’s body has never been found and the family has been tortured by that fact, in addition to waiting 44 years for Sochor’s execution. Still, there are many who believe it is cruel and unusual to execute elderly inmates, and this is just the second in a series of three executions in Florida that are setting records, each inmate older than the next. At the end of this month, Florida plans to execute an 80-year-old convicted murderer.

There has been a 69 percent increase in reported cases of the parasite causing “explosive” diarrhea in more than 30 states from just last Friday!  Now, experts believe lettuce and leafy greens may be the source of the outbreak, but there are few details as to what type of greens, where they came from, and whether there is more produce to blame. Thankfully, there have been no deaths reported from this outbreak, but the miserable conditions have sent dozens to the hospital and if left untreated, can leave people with symptoms for up to a month. Check out our feed later today with our favorite microbiologist (Amy’s Dad) where we will answer some of your questions about this escalating outbreak.

President Trump is currently at the center of four major, developing stories on this Monday afternoon.  Trump has announced the blockade is back at the Strait of Hormuz, and that the U.S. will charge nations to pass through, calling us the “guardian” of the vital passageway.  He also announced who he wanted to fill Lindsey Graham’s Senate seat, and the SC Governor just complied, appointing Graham’s sister, Darline. Trump is also dealing with a massive legal beatdown from a judge who eviscerated him for his $10 billion dollar lawsuit against the IRS, an agency he oversees as President.   And finally, we just got word that President Trump plans to address the nation this Thursday night.
