Housing hasn't been a political issue, not really, because nearly every level of government in every city, province, and nationally, has gone through a right swing and left swing and all the while prices have marched steadily upward.

The range of reactions is not unexpected to the last few episodes.

All of the above we will regret, mainly for the sake of the next generation... but also for ourselves because contrary to another dumb belief, life is not short.... life is really really long. And you gotta live somewhere, in that body of yours, and in a dwelling of some sort ideally.
